How well does your Sim know his/her family? Is there any drama going on between two households, or is it more inside the family? Does your grandpa Sim know all his grandsons and grandnephews? Does her adopted cousin know anything at all of her biological and possibly insane parents? Share your stories!

Family Issues? Oh, hell, take your pick, man.

Well, my Meyers legacy started out in the 60's, with Chandra and Keith buying a new-build home on Kaiver Street just six days before they were married by the town reverend. It was supposed to be Kaiser Street, after the now-torn-down bakery at the end of it, but the signmaker didn't understand the city councilman's accent and the signs were forged and up and nobody did anything about the mishap. After many months and years of trying, a child was not born of them, and one day, while Keith was at work, she summoned the town's prostitute who was rumoured to be with child, and forged a deal with her - Chandra would provide her nine months of relative financial security, if in return the child were born in their home and raised as their own. The prostitute readily agreed and nine months later, Claire Jefferson, now Claire Meyers, was born, and the prostitute, after a day's rest, refused to even see the child in the newly done-up nursery and hastily left for whatever seedy underworld awaited her. (At this point, Claire's family tree was altered to have Keith and Chandra listed as her parents.)

A few years later, Chandra finally conceived twin boys, named Jeff and Jack Meyers. Claire was a toddler, and never questioned her red hair as opposed to her parent's blonde and brown varieties. Unbeknownst to her, Claire had a biological brother named Alexander. (More shit happened, blah blah blah, moving along . . . it's quite dramatic but it's been told at least twice that I recall on here. They had a baby that died as a toddler as well named Felicia of a heart defect.) Years later, Claire had a child named Cadrie Hutchins-Meyers from a man she slept with while drunk on vacation, who turned out unable to walk more than a few steps at a time. This was a glitch, but I worked with it - he was placed into a wheelchair and in a few years will start work with leg braces to build his strength up as he has weak bones in his legs. Claire was going to marry her childhood friend (I believe her name was Linda) before she died in a car crash coming home from an abortion clinic (not that Claire knows that she was cheating), that caused Claire to drop out of university quite fast and get into the Cadrie predicament. Claire married Germanium Oleander later on.

Alexander, the brother, was recovered from a very . . . psycho Kennedy Cox along with two girls, Jessica and Natalie, and a baby named Sonnerie that belonged to Jeff and Jessica. Jessica and Sonnerie never made it, but Natalie and Jack adopted Alexander as their own. Keith, after Chandra's death following the veeeery late, newsmaking birth of Alecia Meyers when Chandra was an ELDER. Keith got a lethal injection done in the yellow and black guest bedroom of Jack's historic 30's brick house down the street, as he couldn't live without his wife, which later became Alexander's bedroom. They have a picture of the children gathering around Keith before his death, and they each got to lock the door and say their goodbyes before they witnessed the death. Keith died with the secret he learnt only days before Chandra's death that Alexander and Claire were siblings.

That's only a small slice of the secrets that plague this family.

In my giant legacy family everyone's kind of the same: couples who have children.

All I can think of is a third generation spare (Sean) who I never play and was an outcast his whole life and a second generation spare (Anise) who was teh first house placed in the neighborhood (other than the founder's) so she always slaps people when they use the telescope in the daytime.

Literally everyone in the neighborhood hates her.

All of my Sims currently know their families, although I'm considering letting John Burb have four illegitimate children so he can satisfy his want to marry off six kids. If that happens, his children with Jennifer won't know about their siblings for a long time. The family with the most recent drama are the Brokes.

The Brokes, which so far consist of 14 sims, are extremely close with a couple exceptions. They had a Simorial Day BBQ today and all the toddlers came, so they'll grow up knowing each other from a young age.

Dustin and his mom Brandi are never going to be friends but they've learned to be civil. They were estranged for a long time but after Dustin went to jail, Brandi saw her opening and forged a relationship with Dustin's wife Angela and daughter Rachel. When Dustin got released, his daughter didn't want anything to do with him. Dustin really didn't like that Brandi sneaked her way into his family's life, but he's stuck because pushing her away will alienate Rachel. And he sort of understands Brandi a bit more now that he's going through this with his own child. He slowly worked with Rachel and while her relationship score toward him is negative, she's started reaching out and has rolled a want to befriend him. So the Broke family drama is almost at an end. For now.

I've noticed that Melody Tinker (mom to the spiky haired toddler in the pic with Brandi's third son) has a better connection to her future brother in law Beau, than to her boyfriend. Their chemistry is higher too, and every time the Brokes get together, including the BBQ, those two end up talking in private the whole time unless I force them to mingle. Right now they're ACR friend zoned so they don't take things too far, but it might not be that way forever.

As a teenager, Hope Heath dated Sasha James, until she got bored, dumped him and moved on to the altogether more interesting bad-boy Aadyn Tomlin. Aadyn certianly lived up to his bad-boy image when he cheated on Hope with her younger sister, Maddie, got Maddie pregnant and fifteen and then ran off.

Fast-forward twenty-two years, and Aadyn has since married Makayla James, Hope's first boyfriend Sasha's sister, and had three more children: Lennox, Savannah and Sienna, who are all teenagers. Maddie has since married Seth Couderc, and they have one daughter, Isabella Maddison "Bella" Heath-Couderc. Hope went back to Sasha, and they now have five children: Jason, Nat, Danny, Milly and Olly, all teens. Casey, Maddie and Aadyn's son, has recently graduated from college, and is a biology teacher at the local high school, teaching, among other people, Lennox, Savannah and Sienna, his younger half siblings, who he doesn't even know he's related to. Aadyn's never met his eldest son.

More recently, Hope and Maddie's youngest sister, Holly, has been having an affair with Jay Oates, practically under his fiancee's nose. When Jay found out Holly was pregnant, he freaked out and went and got hsi fiancee, Carly, pregnant too. Their son Cian, and Holly and Jay's daughter JJ are now toddlers, and both have inherited Jay's massive ears. Carly is still completely oblivious to the affair, and Holly is trying to pass JJ of as her fiance Oliver's daughter.

Generally speaking, my sim families tend to live quite idylic lives with little to no drama. Of the families that do have drama, it's largely down to what they've done (autonomously and/or through the use of various hacks and mods) or wanted to do (via their general wants or LTW):

Angelique and Aaron Bulger were made in CAS as a married couple, and everything about them was randomised, including aspiration. This meant that Angelique, a Family sim, was married to a Romance sim. Everything seemed to go okay, Aaron focusing on building up his skill level and getting job promotions in order to provide for his family while Angelique divided her time between their children and her own job. However, once they had their fourth child, Otis, Aaron became very distant with Angelique, choosing to flirt and woohoo with various women -- Angelique caught him cheating a couple of times but was more afraid of losing him than seeing him cheat, so they stayed together temporarily. Aaron felt guilty over his affairs, and so the family took a quiet vacation to Three Lakes -- unfortunately, Angelique found herself pregnant with their fifth child and that was enough for Aaron. His affairs became more sloppy, and eventually Angelique had enough and kicked him out. Last I played Angelique has a new husband and a sixth child; Aaron lives in a household with six other sims: his ex-lover, his current lover, his ex-lover's lover, and three children of various parentage.

In the same 'hood, thanks to InTeen and ACR, Wendy Meeker found herself pregnant as a teen to her then-boyfriend Nicky Feverstein. Nicky's parents were expecting children of their own -- a Pleasure/Romance couple who had a miscarriage yet rolled the want to have a baby -- and because of that Wendy was invited to live with them to raise their child, Ruby. Wendy and Nicky went through university together, got married, and have a second child...and just after Wendy got pregnant for the second time, her younger sister Tina got pregnant...as a teen...by Nicky's younger brother Warner.

In some households I do do a family get-together every so often: it depends on the family (whether they're the type to be close-knit or distant) but when it does occur I put some food down, make sure no one's likely to die from motive deprevation, and just let them run on free will and see what happens. I invite everyone toddler or older, and so far people have gotten on well with only a handful of negative interactions and enemies being made.

Huh. Where should I start?

The Goth-Caliente trailer home are a very violent household.

http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/7/1/8/6/1/6/4/MTS_Fivey-1296782-snapshot_2dae895f_5c97235c.jpg

Alexander Goth and Nina Caliente are regularly having fisticuffs in the kitchen and brawls in the hallway. When they are not beating the crap out of each other, they are chugging down bottles of vodka. When they are not drinking, they are attempting to bond with their teenaged daughters Linda and Bailey. When they aren't trying to keep sanity by interacting with their kids, they're beating the crap out of each other.

Linda mainly takes out her anger and stress by sleeping with heartbreaker Wyatt Worthington. She's still pissed that she caught him boinking local tramp Karen Taylor-Lothario, but she's frankly too desperate to care. She is also convinced that she can 'change' him. Poor Linda is in for a horrid surprise.

Her little sister, Bailey, continuously rolls wants to sneak out with her BFF Rupert Worthington. Rupert is gay, so I'd imagine she is his fag hag or something.

Tons of drama. The creepiest was when elderly serial-romance sim Jimmy Tellerman wound up rolling the surprising want to get engaged to his orphaned live-in niece on her transition day from teen to adult. Belinda declined, then went for a drive to think things over. Her own boyfriend was still a teen, and Belinda wanted to marry a wealthy sim, and if she moved out of the house, all of Jimmy's money would be lost to her...

She changed her mind. They got married, but Belinda secretly kept her old boyfriend. And Jimmy never knew that his daughter wasn't his.

It all played out very noir. I called it "The Long Con."

My famlies in Riverblossom Hills all lived just fine and peacefully until adults turned into elders, then something got into them and then began flirting with each other despite being in love with their spouses and being family Sims. Now it's impossible to invite guests over without remembering first who hates who, otherwise the party will be ruined by constant slapping, arguing and fighting. Yes, I do have ACR installed, but the funny thing it had no effect on Sims while those were adults, it's just when they became elders their nature got changed, drastically. Once peaceful little village of Riverblossom Hills now reminds me of some heated Latin American soap opera >_<

I want that cow plant rocker omglo.

In answer to the OP: drama?? I live for it. Also, I see Fivey is playing my game again though I think I'd give Alexander the bruises.

Mine is kinda... screwed up, but anyways.

I have around 3 generations now, with lots of branches going every which way. Since for some reason, aunts and uncles aren't tied to their nieces and nephews. This caused an ACR fueled burst of passion and caused an uncle to heartfart over then kiss his niece.

Needless to say, I killed him for being so creepy.

I didn't know there were CC bruises. Those would have been useful back when the Lothario household temporarily became a 24/7 wild cage match.

I strive to keep my Sim families happy. I'm kind of an idealist, I guess. I didn't plan for the main drama going within a family at all which is between a father, E, and his daughter, V.

E started out with a woman named B, who he lived with, but wasn't married to. They had two children together and B died soon after the second one was born. E moved in with his parents for awhile with his daughters, A and V until the house got too crowded with his half-siblings and he found his own place. I won't say family harmony was thrown into disorder by E beginning to date F since around that time A got teen pregnant which was sure to throw a wrench into the harmony machine. Regardless, the second V got off the school bus and saw her father on a date with F it was a non-stop bawl-fest and she has hated her father with a passion ever since. From a child to an adult with several children of her own. It was depressing when A always had to choose between inviting her sister or her father to parties. After all, they fought non-stop during her wedding.

The worst part is, I have no idea how this came about. I know children will get upset if they see one parent cheating on the other, but E wasn't cheating because B was long dead. From a real-world point-of-view it makes sense. V probably wouldn't like a strange woman coming in and changing things and "taking her daddy away from her". From a Sims point of view... No idea. I'm guessing it's a glitch since V was a baby and not on the same lot when her mother died (though she had a memory of it). A never had a reaction to her father and F's relationship, but she was distracted by her own set of troubles at the time.

Well, the two haven't seen each other in awhile, so perhaps they're no longer furious and their relationship can be mended. Provided V doesn't freak out again the second E has an ACR interaction with F.

You're welcome, Maxon. Isn't it cool?

I'm guessing it's a glitch since V was a baby and not on the same lot when her mother died (though she had a memory of it). I don't think that's a glitch. Or if it is, I've had it happen too, more than once. The latest story fits in this thread, so I'll share. Daniel Pleasant started an affair with Nina Caliente. She got pregnant and he moved her into his home with Mary Sue and the kids. The drama that this added to the already chaotic house. Everybody hated each other, and Daniel was constantly infuriating someone by trying to kiss the other one. Piper (the baby) ended up being the only one no one had a death wish against. Anyway, Mary Sue and Daniel died when Piper was a toddler. The twins moved out and Nina moved Mr. Big in. Piper aged into a child who threw tantrums anytime Nina and Mr. Big were romantic. Once she aged to a teen, she started hitting Mr. Big if he kissed Nina, and apparently there's no such thing as being the bigger Sim in their little world, because he declared war on that poor girl. Then Piper went to live with her sister Lilith.

But I've also had Sims who don't care if their parents start new relationships. Maybe their response is determined by their personality?

In answer to the OP: drama?? I live for it. Also, I see Fivey is playing my game again though I think I'd give Alexander the bruises.

Trust me, they both have their own sets of bruises. Nina's a fighter, and initiates most of the violence. Alexander is definitely more sensitive as a person. He's a victim of himself. I might have him get fed up with Nina and kill her, then attempt to take his father's mansion back. Dina Goth just got married to Dustin Broke, so nobody in that house is a true Goth anymore, which pisses off Alex beyond belief.

Neither Alex or Nina would ever harm their kids. They take turns winning fights.

Also, in my Middleground neighborhood, Casper Fleurada's dad (aka sperm donor) has never been a real father. They met when Casper was a teen, but Berjes refused to be anything but a friend to him. He rejected Casper's attempts to hug him, and you know, bond with him. So Casper sees his stepdad as his proper father. He did potty train him.

But I've also had Sims who don't care if their parents start new relationships. Maybe their response is determined by their personality?

I think it has to do with the child's relationship with the original parent and the lover, and age

As I said before, Casper never cared that his mom wasn't with his dad, because he never knew his dad. His mom's boyfriend was a surrogate father. He didn't mind at all seeing them kissing. When he finally met his dad, he understood the situation and never broke down in tears because he was a teen.

However, Doodle Zarek never met her dad until she was a kid. She only knew her mom and her grandpas, since her mom never really dated. So, she was pretty pissed to see her dad making out with his husband when she first met him. When Doodle moved in years later due to her grandpas dying and her mom going corrupt, she immediately showing contempt towards her dad's lover.

In my hood the founding family are the Werthers. Two Werther brothers, Scott and Joey, live in a house with their wives and children so the cousins grow up together. Scott has brown hair as does his wife Tindriel, and their two daughters Sigmara and Katrina. Joey has black hair as does his wife, Dolly. Joey and Dolly had a son, Emmett, with black hair and all was well. On Dolly's second pregnancy I saved too far along in the birth sequence and she kept having twins (I guess it had already been rolled). I didn't want more than 4 kids in the house because they wouldn't all fit and I didn't want anyone to have to move. I needed to create a backstory.....

The twins of Dolly and Joey were a girl and a boy. The girl had black hair just like her parents and brother Emmett. The boy had brown hair like his uncle and grandfather. Dolly was terrified Joey would think she'd been cheating on him with his brother since the boy twin had his uncle's exact colouring. She wasn't clever enough to consider the grandparent genes involved. Because Dolly was home alone during their birth and everyone else was at work, she knew she could abandon him and nobody would be any wiser. She pretended that only Elise had been born that day, and never even named baby boy anything else.

The elder Captain Saltzman, who years before had lost his wife and only child at sea, happened upon the baby boy in the lane behind the Werther home. He saw this as a second chance from a higher power, and named the tyke Junior Saltzman. He tells everyone that a niece of his had a baby out of wedlock and asked him to raise it. It will be interesting to see how things develop as Junior grows up looking so much like the 7 Werther siblings and cousins in town. Also interesting because he won't have family flags with any of them, so could very well fall in love with a sibling or cousin.

Most of my sims live a relatively peaceful life. The most drama I've had was a teenage pregnancy which ended up with the couple breaking up and the mom was enemies with the guy's new girlfriend and they still don't speak :P

The daughter is friends with her dad and his new family though :)
