View Full Version : Will a PC DVD (UK version) work?

I just bought the Fun with Pets collection off Amazon, and I got a PC DVD version. Also, on the back it gives the link to TheSims2.co.uk (so apparently, its the UK version). Under then PC DVD symbol it says "only DVD compatible". Will this work with the other games? All of my other games, including the base game are US version "normal" discs. I do have a PC, not a Mac.

Will this work or should I send it back? Thanks!

I just recently bought the same game, and it works fine with all the other ones I have, which includes other DVDs, CDs, and digital downloads. I have a PC, and I'm not in the UK, though I'm not sure how that would affect a game.
I think what it means by "only DVD compatible" is that it will only work in disc players that can play DVDs, but I could be wrong?

It should work. I've gotten some of the UK versions and they work fine in the US. The only difference I've noticed is that the UK versions make it easier to access the various languages that the game can be played in. I've never understood why it was the US versions only offer Spanish and English when the other languages are available on the disks.

The disk will only run in a DVD-compatible drive; it'll work fine with the elements of the game previously installed on CD. The refusal of my machine to install AL and M&G (DVD-only) was how I realized the DVD driver in our CD/DVD drive was kaput.

And my M&G is a UK version; in another thread I explained the consequences this for my game and how easy they were to fix, just today, so excuse me for not repeating myself.

The only problem I can see if that unlike CD's, DVD's are often region coded, but computers often let you change the region code of your DVD drive about... 5 times, I think it is?

I'm not sure, but I believe that an average DVD drive for a computer will lock itself after a couple of switches. I would be somewhat wary about changing the region code.
