View Full Version : Too many CAS sims in neighbourhood?

Hiya :) I was reading another thread about families etc. and realised that my Strangetown is nearly full of CAS sims! I love making sims in CAS! Especially when I have new cc to use! Am I the only one?
Everyone else seems to breed their sims (which I am doing aswell, but slowly!)
Also what happens when you fill all your neighbourhoods? I'm a way off yet, but just wondered?

I imagine if you fill them all, you make another one.
I make more CAS sims than I should, given that I want to focus on Drama Acres and like to see my favorites at least once a month. I'm hoping to hit a sweet spot where I don't "need" to make any more "soon" - both the terms in quotations marks are undefined, though the ability to pair people off and keep the Greeks going goes into the gut-feeling for "need."

I doubt I'll ever get to the point where I fill up yy neighborhood (I did a VBT a long time ago) but I get the chance to I always have the origional neighborhood plus the downtown area if it comes to it. :)
Usually when I want to try new CC its clothes or hair or something so my inborn games always get to use them anyway ^_^

Funny, but I only make CAS sims if I need them. My hood started with 6 CAS sims, and I make a very few every now and then when the genders aren't balanced for the current generation. I'm stuck with townies otherwise, since I dont want too many sims. Unfortunately, im stuck with premade ones. If this hood ever dies, my next hood would be a clean template, so I can make my own townies in CAS for once xD

I only ever make CAS sims for the use of townies, especially if I have a rather attractive sim and don't want to give them unattractive babies (sounds bad, I know P: ).
But then I've had the most ugly EA townies conceive some rather pretty sims, and vice versa. The only time I'll play a CAS sim, though, is when they are added to an already existing family, or I'm starting from scratch.
I love making them, though, and have quite a few CAS sims in my main 'hood. I just don't really feel 'attached' to them until they are gradually introduced, kinda makes me feel like I'm cheating in a way, idk?

Don't hold your breath. If you're anything like me as a player (and I think you are), the attraction of a new idea for a character NEVER pales.
I currently have a list of sims I want to make for downtownies - types that I want to see wandering around town in the background when I visit community lots with my main characters. I already have quite a few. It gives you a chance to use some of the more outre skins around. I particularly liked making my punky girls for instance.

If I do fill my neighborhood, I will:
A) use Mootilda's hood adjustor to replace my current terrain with something that has more roads.
B) Create a subhoood, since it acts like a normal hood, i.e., extension for your hood.
In Townie Place, I don't create CAS sims, I use the game's townies that are generated as my playable families, with some hacks, I get them connected (married, children connected to eachother as siblings, etc...)
The only CAS sim I ever made was Tom Lord, he was the one who started the connection of townies, depending on genetics, last name, etc...

I only make more Sims when I need them. Mostly mates for born-in-the-game Sims. I have been trying to cut down on the number of children my Sim familes have. My big neighborhood takes forever to get around. I made smaller neighborhoods to play but eventually even they spillover. I usually find myself adding subneighborhoods. My business dstricts aren't really business districts at all as I use them and extra downtowns as housing developments.

I enjoy making new sims in Body Shop and do that quite a lot, but in ongoing ´hoods I only create those sims as townies/dormies if I decide I want them in my game. In custom ´hoods I create all playable sims I´ll need before I start playing it, and once I´ve started playing no more playables are ever created there. If I play a Maxis made ´hood I never fill it with my own sims - not even as townies.

I don't make CAS sims. I started off my neighbourhood with two CAS college sims and only play their descendants. I don't really like CAS sims all that much. I prefer playing sims that have been born in game because they feel more unique, to me. They've got a history and stuff.

My neighborhoods do have CAS townies that are integrated into my born-in-game families. You could always have two neighborhoods one where you play the sims that you have and play their descendants and such and really get into the breeding aspect of the game and another where you just build sims in CAS and makeovers and such things.

I love making Sims in CAS too! Every time I get some new CC, I have to jump into CAS and see how it looks. Plus I despise the Maxis townies, so whenever I create a new neighborhood, I wipe the autogenerated characters and fill it with townies of my own making. Then I make a few more Sims to use as playables, and the townies serve as friends and spouses.
My main problem with Maxis townies is how incongruous they are. They might have horribly clashing clothes, or bizarre names. I prefer my townies to look like normal people you might actually come across while strolling down the street.
