This whole story began with me one day thinking to myself that "hey, it's been ages since I played the Sims 3, let's install it!", and so I did. Installing the basegame went just fine, and so did patching it, but when I installed the next expansion, world adventures, I couldn't patch it. It told me that it couldn't connect to the EA Downloadmanager, and thus couldn't patch. It also prompted me to patch the store content or the like, but when that window appeared I couldn't click anything; not in said window nor in the launcher itself. The only way to get out of it is to ctrl + alt + del, and force the launcher to shut down.

So I tried to restart the computer, but it didn't work. The problem persisted. Fine, I thought, I'll reinstall it, and so I did. Surprise! Now I can't even patch the basegame, because it'll tell me it cannot connect to the EA Downloadmanager. :faceslap:

To summarize: I can't patch, as it'll tell me it can't connect to the EA Downloadmanager, and all expansion launchers will prompt me to like update/patch the store content.

And that is my story. I've tried for two days now to set it straight. I've looked all over this forum and tried what little I've found that matches my problem:
1. To uninstall origin, manually and not, and then reinstall it and update it to the latest version, rebooting my computer as told.
2. Tried to uninstalling the game itself manually, and then reinstalling it
3. Starting the game launcher through Origin.
4. Restarting the computer (obviously)
5. Used the superpatcher to the latest version, 1.34, and then tried using the launcher to patch the game from there. Didn't work, all problems persisted.

PLEASE help me if you can! I have the Sims3 bug, and I can't play the game. It's driving me crazy :help:
If you could solve this for me, you'll be my hero/ine forever !

Hi there, I had the same problem. I didn't try all the things you tried, because I didn't want to unable my mods and downloads. I was looking for an easy way out. Then I found this easy little standalone patch. I patched my game manually, and I didn't have to uninstall anything to make it work. It simply worked like.. a charm. You don't even need Origin for this to work.

You can do the same thing by using this patch that I've used too:

Hi! Thanks for the reply. :)
That link is to download the superpatcher though, is it not? Because I've tried that already and it didn't work. :(
I still couldn't patch any of my expansions and the unclickable prompt to update/patch the store content persists even after installing it :S

I've heard rumours about not having to patch every single expansion, is this true? Can I just install that one patch and then all the expansions and simply not use the launcher, and it'll still work in the end? Also would I install that patch right after I've installed the basegamepatch, or after I've installed all the expansions?
Preferably, I'd like to be able to use my launcher again, so that I can install sims3packs, but you know. Having sims 3 without launcher is better than to not have it at all.

Sorry if I sound incompetent, but that's just because. Well.. I sort of am :faceslap:

There are programs to open and install sims 3 packs without the launcher, and you can start the game by bypassing the Launcher. You really don't need the launcher at all.

The newer patches are supposed to cover all installed EPs. You patch after installing them. Once you've run the superpatcher, everything you have installed is (theoretically) patched. This included the base game.

I believe the problem sounds like you can't get the Store patch that came out last September about the time of the Pets patch. I don't know if there is a link for it or not, but AFAIK what it was doing was rigfixing it for Pets+ . If you don't have Store Content, I wouldn't worry about it.

I know of a few on this site that could work for you. (The Launcher has driven a -lot- of people up the wall!)

There is CC Magic, which also bundles packages and helps you organize things. (Back up your Mods folder first.) http://www.modthesims.info/d/461888
There is Delphy's Multi-extractor (Which extracts the Sims 3 pack files as package files to put in your mods folder, and doesn't add the CC icon that the launcher adds. ) http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038
There is the sim 3 command line extractor (s3ce), which I don't know much about. http://www.modthesims.info/d/423650

And probably more on other sites if you wish to google them.
