I recently "updated" to the new patch.
I made sure to update mods (e.g. Twallan, Awesomemod) that needed it (it's normal for default replacements not to change every patch, right?) I installed a few extra CC items at this time, but already tried removing them.
The load times are significantly slower (from 1-2 minutes to 4 or so to load my Lunar Lakes save) and when using "fps on" in-game, the game appears to have slowed as well: normally the fps counter hovers between 45-60 if I'm focusing on a patch of ground with no Sims in view, now it's 20 or less.
My guess is either they bumped up the system requirements again (probably due to crappy rushed programming) or some CC item other than the core or tuning mods is no longer compatible, although I can't find a lot of other "the patch broke my stuff" threads so it's probably not a wide-ranging issue like with 1.26... Anyway. Halp?
Possibly pertinent details:
* 193 .package files. Some (e.g. patterns by the same creator) are merged, but I didn't want to go the "merge it down to only a few" approach because I was concerned about accidentally merging a bad file in there.
* EPs: Ambitions, LN, Generations, Pets
* Dashboard reports no corrupt files; there are two intentional (one package is meant to modify the other) conflicts but nothing unexpected
* I'm running this on a relatively old (2007) Asus gaming laptop. Upgrading isn't an option right now.
* Vsync is on. I've heard enough stories about this game burning out graphics cards... (is EA even trying to test their products anymore?)
* I can't use Process Explorer. It freezes the whole computer up tight.
* I used the incremental 1.33->1.34 patch.
Edit: Took out my buy mode CC folder and things returned to normal. Which is odd, because that stuff worked fine in the past. I guess the patch doesn't play nice with all CC. Point is this thread probably isn't needed anymore.
