Sadly, I lost my data when my hard drive failed and the original MTS hood is unrecoverable. I enjoyed playing and chronicling it, though, so how about another go?

I have Leh's newer skins and eye defaults from her Media fire, and the form-fitting default mesh of the base game baggy tshirt/jeans by Mr. Lucas. None of those seem to have been included, according to Clean Installer.

The rules only tell you how to create your Sim. But what is going to happen to that Sim?
Is EVERYONE going to play them in their own hood or is just he/she going to play them in his/her hood?

Or is the hood being shared and everyone plays it for a certain amount of time?

I assume if others want to do this same sort of thing they are more than welcome too, Or if they just want to download the sims posted here for there own game and not for a special MTS neighborhood obviously they can do that too.

Some time ago I got the urge to create a self Sim. Haven't done that since 2004 when I first got the game. So when this thread appeared I felt as sharing my Sim, because hey- I have a self Sim, at long last!
Warning: this is a Sim that kind of "looks like" me. I'm not very profficient with creating Sims. But she has my character, as far as a Sim can have any character at all :)

And though there were no special inquiries about hobbies, I have to point out that this Sim is a gamer. That's her OTH. She also likes to cook and read and stare at the skies above, either alone or in company, with a telescope or just with her eyes.
When she loves, she's faithful and true but she has serious issues with marriage. Love needs no paper, or so she says.
She wears no make-up - this is important to her, don't ask me why :P just respect it.

No deadline yet, I have to get everything organized on my end, like sculpting the terrain, setting up the hood, making townies, etc. Once the hood is ready, I'll set a deadline then.

I'll be doing the same thing as I did before - playing the neighbourhood on my own and posting the story on my simming blog. For those who weren't there when I did the first one, I'll amend the OP to provide an explanation of how this project works.

Not taking the time to read though a thread and then repeatedly asking questions that have already been answered multiple times is also very rude, not to mention extremely annoying. If you're going to act like an idiot, I reserve the right to ignore you. Game inexperience is no excuse for laziness or willful ignorance. Sensible questions, however, will be given all due attention.

lol probably the same person who hit disagree on your post and like perihelion said they 're probably some troll just trying to stir things up. :P I would like to say in case anyone is curious or if this is indeed the reason they disagreed that the only reason I put take your pick on secondary aspiration is because I only have up to seasons so I don't have that feature in my game and I don't know the significance. By the way I'm loving everyone else's sim selves ;)

OK, folks, the Sims are starting to get rather numerous and I'm working on the hood now, so I'm setting the deadline for noon this Sunday, July 1, Australian Eastern Standard Time (GMT +10, US-EST +16). Any Sims submitted after that deadline will not be included in the hood. Once the deadline has passed, I will amend the OP to tell everyone that the hood is being populated and any latecomers have missed the boat.

Aaaaand... closed! Construction of the neighbourhood is progressing well: I have terrains for the main hood, one business district and one university. So far, I've built a beachfront community lot and a 1950s-style apartment block in the main hood, with plans for more apartments and a Simlogical private school in the works as well.

Click Create> Upload Items at the top of the page; that way your sim will be moderated and will appear in the Downloads section of the site. It's fine to link to a file host from here though, as the others have.

You have to use an external file host, since uploading anything here means you're submitting it for approval as a download on MTS. What simsample means is the moderation queue all uploads go through for quality assessment. Make sure you edit your post to show the download links for the content you upload externally.

EDIT: Also, the attachment function in the forums is generally only for pictures, not Sims content. At least, that's how I understand it. I just host pictures on photobucket anyway.

Anything you upload to this site has to be moderated (with the exception of your images and certain CAW files). By attaching a sim to your post here you are not being subjected to our upload moderation, and are therefore breaking the site rules.

The main hood is progressing nicely, I just had to hit up the Simlogical chat for help with the school mods (Inge wasn't there, but I did get the clarification I was looking for). Once I have the main hood, business district (where most of the businesses will be), university and at least one vacation spot ready, I can download the Sims and get this engine rolling!

Sorry this is taking so long, I've been having problems with the school hacks. I had to spend some time playtesting the school to make sure I could get it to work correctly. I'll leave off building the high school until later on. Right now I've got a university to build.

I have a request to make of those participating, though: who wants to make a vacation spot for our Sims? I've made the main 'hood, a business district and a university plus two custom schools (with a third on the drawing board) and I can't be stuffed building anything else. If someone wants to build a vacation hood - any type will do - and maybe even a downtown and figure out how to package and upload it, that would be great. Just remember I have all EPs and all SPs except TSS, Holiday Stuff and H&M.

Anyway, I think that such a hood (a subhood) couldn't be shared "as is", with lots and deco in it. It would have to be shared lot by lot and the hood terrain separately. If that's the case, then mabye we could build some lots to share with you. I believe that as long as you have the last engine changing EP or SP installed that then we can share our lots, using only the items you have in your game.
We both have M&G and I think it would be safe to share lots among us. Can someone confirm this?
Also, what about the beach lots? I seem to remember problems with sharing those too.

There are some lovely terrains around here. If I'm to build anything, I need to have a hood first, so that I can place the lot I'm buidling in some context.

It should be updated now. I have no idea what could have caused that though, unless the outfit used an ingame mesh, which I doubt. My make up appeared base game, at least there was nothing indicating otherwise. I removed both just in case.

If you use the "ShowEPFlagsInCatalogue" cheat, it will show you what game everything comes from, so you can selectively exclude the stuff he cannot get. Im excited this is starting! woo

EDIT:Or, as Peni says, AGS might be your best bet.

Agreed. I think this would be your best bet, Simsica. I also recommend you follow the tutorial Mootilda posted to make it easier for me to integrate the subhood.

And apparently, the time for AGS is upon me. Again. I might even cave in to the call this time around.
I can't promise anything though. AGS and I, it's a long story without an ending in sight.

I stared at the thread for over half an hour. As I understood it, I only need to use the installer and that's it? Then create a game I need to do the stuff I want.
As it says the following: "OK, take a deep breath and calm down: you full game is safe and has NOT been deleted. You DON'T HAVE to reinstall anything" I'll take it that I'm safe and only paranoid that it can do anything to my installation.

But...

How does AGS affect the normal gameplay? I think this is the question that worries me the most - what will happen, or is there any way I could mess up my regular game and my new hood? How do you play the normal game with AGS installed? Normally?

I know this isn't the proper thread. I'm sorry. If any of you would answer me anyway (or point me to an answer), I'd be really grateful :) Maybe I'd even build something to share.

I promise, AGS really isn't that scary, Simsica. :) Back your game up, for peace of mind, and everything will be just fine.

Any AGS games you set up will be in their own folders in My Documents, completely separate from your main game. The path for the first will be My Documents\AnyGameStarter\AnyGame1\EA GAMES\The Sims 2.

The setup process puts a shortcut to the AnyGame on your desktop named AnyGame1 (or 2 or 3). At playtime, simply decide which game you want, and click its shortcut. Voila!

Just be sure that you have no downloaded games, and none of the later collection packs. The collection packs which are supported are listed on the download thread. Also, be wary if you have the Store Edition. Although Numenor says that the AGS supports the SE, it doesn't support the latest version of the SE.

If you have an unsupported pack, the AGS will uninstall it for you. If you would like help in setting up the AGS for an unsupported pack, please let me know here:

Otherwise, just strip out all the CC, upload a vanilla Sim and I'll give her a makeover. If THAT doesn't work, you'll have to remake your Sim in AGS BodyShop. Sorry, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

AGS is a completely different set of folders. Doesn't affect your regular installation in any way (apart from putting that file in your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims folder).

Yeah. I have another computer running only double deluxe, so I might see what i can do with that one. I'm not sure AGS will work for me, since I have three of the unsupported packs.

EDIT: Just to check I tried installing my sim on the computer that is double deluxe only and I got the same message(well she is a YA and I don't have Uni on that computer.) Then I tried using the clean installer on her and it worked! It changed her to an adult in body shop though. This led me to wonder if possibly out problem was due to my Uni being the University Life Collection Pack, featuring Teen Style Stuff. Even though none of the "stuff" was used, it may have looked at it as having used it because Teen Style and my University are kind of combined. I'll try uploading her as an adult who you can change to YA in body shop to see if that works, and if it doesn't you could try clean installer.

EDITED Again: Contains a CC and vanilla version of my sim as an adult.

I wouldn't worry about the community getting smaller. It will naturally shrink anyway and there are times when the banhammer needs to be used.

Anyway, I rebuilt and redecorated - redone in a word - that huge base game house with "Wright Way" address, and made it into a hotel, a mediterranean looking one. I also have about three houses, maybe more, depending on the hood's style, that could work well as vacation homes. They're all 1x2 lots though and graced with Mootilda's real basements :) Is that safe to share - shrunk and re-leveled (and what-not) lots?

But I guess it doesn't really matter if the project is abandoned. Ah, well. I'll still have me my Wright Way Hotel :)

We already have all the Sims here - all we got to do is re-make the whole terrain(s) and come up with a story--- what am I talking about here, I don't even know what the OP tried to do with our Sims in the neighborhood. :( Dang it.

It should be taken over by the person who is most excited to be playing it. Who can decide for herself which terrain and storyline she wants to play. Or everybody who wanted to take part can play it according to their own lights and report back. That'd be the most interesting thing from the audience POV.

My impression with Extensa was that she flounced (three times under three different names). I know nothing against Perihelion, but wouldn't be here if I didn't trust the mods. Speaking from experience and with no particular reference to anyone, it is possible to be "sweet and helpful" in one place and a raving toxic lunatic in another, particularly with PM capacity. And everyone is a jerk on the internet once in awhile. So perhaps some needed life lesson will be learned and gone need not be forever, or something.
