This is something that I have been wishing for for a while (but obviously it won't be granted).
How do you guys think it would be playing your sim(s) in a first person format. Being able to look thru your sims' eyes and seeing what they see. But having the option to switch back to third person whenever. I think this is a cool idea.

It would probably be a lot like the first person POV in Ghost Master (If anyone remembers that game), the novelty wore off pretty quickly.

It's possible with the video recorder in GEN but the movement is very jerky. I remember before TS2 base game came out, this was mentioned in one of EA's articles on the game but I guess that feature was dropped.
This would be a useful feature for the camera in order to take better photos.

I can't play any games in first person mode because I get really dizzy and get huge headaches. I seriously doubt this will happen in The Sims 3 and beyond though. I could be wrong.

I think it was in the Sims on PS2 that you could switch the camera to the perspective of your sim. It was kind of cool to see how they view the world! But the novelty wore off for me, and I haven't missed it on PC :)

I never noticed it in TS2. Oh well.

Even if the novelty wears off, being able to see things the way the sims see them is still nice to have (especially if that view can be used to create memory snapshots.) It is not impossible for EA to make it so that the player can still issue commands while in first person and switch between sims, nor is it impossible for them to have the current sim be moved around like in any good first person game (like Metroid Prime.) For commands, menus and the mouse cursor can be used in the first person mode to interact with the world and other sims. For movement, the mouse can be used to look around and the arrow keys can be used to walk and run (the right shift key can be held down to turn walking into running.) Sadly, I doubt EA would ever do this (and I doubt they would do it right considering how much they epic fail at good programming.)

If you right click your sim's portrait so the camera follows them, then switch to camera mode (tab) and position it in the right place, its pretty much the same thing.

Well, it's a start. The results might be interesting, especially for memories.

I remember it being mentioned as a feature for the TS2 gamecube version, coded the "fisheyes" mode. I don't know if it ever saw the light of simulated day.

Huh? There's already a free cam mode to take pictures. If you mean the in game camera that sims can own and take photos with, I thought it automatically goes into that mode already when you want to take pics?

Now what would *really* be cool would be if, when it goes into that mode, if I point the camera at a mirror, I'd see myself holding the camera! But no, it doesn't. But it does show the Sim's-eye view through the viewfinder, for sure.

Yes, I meant the latter as it doesn't got into first person camera mode. It would be great if we had that same functionality for cameras as we do for the video recorders in GEN so we can position the cameras in first person mode to take photos.

I think that they should stick to thrid person as you can see things better then. Leave 1st person to other games like skyrim and dragon age where it would work better.

You can't make things in those games.

Given the current developers' obsession with RPG/MMO play, I'm sure TS3 will be a FPS soon enough. Look out Crumplebottom, you are going down!
I don't find first-person perspective to be useful in any game because my display does not provide me with a 180 degree field of view.
