Hello, everyone; I am glad I have finally joined the Mod the Sims community! I hope to be able to contribute to the site. [Thanks, I just wanted to get that out there. :p ] Also, I apologize for the length of the following; hopefully the excessive details will help any potential problem solvers!
To start off, I have noted the requirements on the back of the EP/SP cases, installed them in the suggested (and not suggested) order, uninstalled and reinstalled everything multiple times, and read/watched various troubleshooting forums/tutorials. I would be so thankful for your help!
What I did and what resulted: At the time I had been playing only the base game and Nightlife which were both saved to the hard disk. Upon trying to launch Pets following installation, I received the error message: "A required resource was not found. Please reinstall The Sims 2." I uninstalled TS2 and Nightlife by deleting the The Sims 2 folder from the hard disk, deleting the three .plist files from Library>Preferences, and deleting the The Sims 2 folder from Documents>EA Games. [I had backed up my saved data prior to uninstalling.] I reinstalled TS2, saving it to Applications instead of the hard disk; launched and created a save file. I then began to install the expansion/stuff packs in the suggested order (Nightlife, Glamour Life, Pets; I realize this may or may not apply to Mac users); launched and saved after each installation through Glamour Life. I installed Pets; could not launch due to the same error despite the previous message which read: "The software was successfully installed."
I'm able to get Pets to launch when it's the only expansion installed, just not along with the other two from what I've gathered.
I'm willing to volunteer my game as a guinea pig if anyone even wants to throw out ideas. Thanks guys!
