View Full Version : Time freezes on lot and other strangeness

My game got seriously borked recently and I'm not sure how to fix it. The issue is that I think I have some bad cc, but after creating a test 'hood (so that I don't destroy my main 'hood), splitting up the content I have installed, and testing, I was unable to create the same effect as in the main 'hood. Before I tore out my remaining hair, I tried running testingCheatsEnabled. I got three distinct error logs; I'm not sure if they're caused by the same object or if there are multiple things causing them. Sadly, I don't really understand error logs.
The first log happens when I try to place a certain object in the lot. The second one happens when I use any posebox; the sim strikes a pose and time freezes. The third one is using an anim overlay. The error is generated when I select "Force Mashup". (The option to stop all overlaid animations).
Are these all caused by one bad piece of cc? Or are their multiple things wrong with my game? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Backup your main hood and then remove all of your CC. Does the same problem occur?

No. Or at least I can't seem to replicate the conditions that generated the error without the CC.

This suggests that the problem is likely a piece of your CC that isn't working in your game.
You can use the 50/50 method to narrow it down until you find out which one it is, then remove it.
(ETA: I love those ships in your avatar!)

Try taking out the posebox, painting (that must have the animation overlay?) and the decorative object "Plant - Decorative - Vase Small Bottle" and see if everything is alright. I'm not sure how to fix any of those. You might want to check where you got the posebox from and see if anyone else has had any problems with it..
Edit: You probably already tried that, lol. Anyway- those 3 objects are what's causing the problems. Unless they're fixed, you're most likely not going to be able to use them at all.

Okay. Thanks.
I was hoping that wasn't the case; I depend on them heavily for storytelling. Using the 50/50 method, I've been able to sort through about 12,000 .packages so far. I haven't had a problem using the animation painting or the posebox so far. Could it be that there's another "problem child" somewhere in the CC I haven't sorted yet that's causing a conflict with these two objects?

So, I'm confused then. You CAN use both of those objects now with no problem? The error logs for both of those objects are BHAV related.. if I'm not mistaken, it has to do with the objects being reset. I'm not 100% sure about that- I've only recently learned how to decipher the error logs. But it seems to me that those objects would cause errors on their own without "needing" another object in your downloads to conflict with. That vase (not sure what it really is)? It's error is in the Init BHAV, so it causing a crash when you try to place it is logical and doesn't surprise me. One or more lines in the BHAV aren't linked right.

The deco item (it's actually a beer mug cloned from a vase) was causing problems; it's gone. I've used the other two items for a year or more with no problems. This is why I maintain the theory that something else is conflicting with them. I haven't experienced any problems until just recently. Even by themselves, with no other CC installed, they generate the error when I use the 'testingCheatsEnabled' cheat. But they haven't caused this particular problem before.

Have you tried downloading and installing fresh copies?

have you run the HCDU? It might show you if there is something conflicting with the other two.
Otherwise, if they both work while doing a 50/50 test (And if you have them both in the same batch, and everything is still fine), it sounds like it might be a conflict with something else.

I managed to figure it out. There were actually two or three bad .packages causing the errors. The deco object with the bad Init BHAV and another deco object (I'm assuming with a similar problem) were what was creating the conflict with the posebox and the painting. Also, one of the hacks that I had installed in't compatible with Apartment Life. I quarantined them off using 50/50 and since then everything has been fine.
Thanks for all your help, everyone.
