Not sure this is the right forum but...
I let my sister use my pc and now all of a sudden ALL my .package files use Windows Media Player instead!!!! How do I fix this? Can't for the life of me remember what program .package files are supposed to be used with.
This is what my files look like now: http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w79/Vattukvinnan70/PackageFile.jpg
She claims that she hasn't changed anything but they can hardly change on their own... I've already checked for viruses etc and my pc is clean.

What are you trying to do with them? If you just want the game to be able to read them, it doesn't matter which default program you have them set up to use.

If you want to edit them, you'll want SimPE if you're a TS2 modder, and S3PE, Postal or another TS3 package editor if you're a TS3 modder.

I'm not trying to do anything with them besides having them in my games but it bothers me that they look different. Are you sure it doesn't matter for the games?
I have both sims 2 & 3 but I have very little experience with SimPE or s3pe. I've just done some easy stuff or followed some of the easier tutorials to fix stuff etc so I'm a bit hesitant to alter anything unless there's some tutorials on how to do so.

It definitely doesn't matter at all for the games. If it bothers you terribly much, if you tell us which version of Windows you're running, we can tell you the exact steps you need to do to change the icon and program association back to either s3pe or SimPE.

Find any .package file on your computer. Right-click on it and choose Properties.

You'll get a window up that has four tabs on it - you'll be on the General tab, and you'll see "type of file" and below that "opens with" with a Change button next to it. Click Change. If you see s3pe and/or SimPE in the list of recommended programs, you can select one of those.

If s3pe/SimPE are not in the list, click Browse. Then you'll need to find where you have them installed on your computer. I'm not sure the default locations for them - my s3pe is in c:\program files\s3pe (x64)\ and the file you need to select if you want s3pe to open the files is s3pe-x64.exe. If you're on 32 bit windows it will probably not have the (x64) in the folder or file name. If you want to use SimPE instead... again, not sure about its default location, but mine is in c:\Program Files (x86)\SimPE\ and the file you'd select is SimPe.exe ...

Once you select one of them, make sure "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is ticked (next to the browse button - it may be greyed out) and then click OK and OK again. This should change the file icon to either s3pe's green plumbbob with gear or SimPE's orange S, and will mean that if you double-click a file, it'll open in one of those programs.
