I'll post what I have so far.

- Everyday Outfit:

I know the 2 pictures I tried to copy are bad, but I think the hairstyle is as close as you can get. I didn't try making the clothing perfect, just similar colors and style to have it look close. In the Formal outfit, I kept the same makeup because I like it lol. I don't know what to do for Sleepwear, Athletic, and Swimwear. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Also, what about the traits/lifetime wish/favorites and voice? What would be the best setup for that?

For traits, I did:
Charismatic, Flirty, Good Sense of Humor, Natural Born Performer, and Star Quality. I think I'm going to edit her with Master Controller and make her a celebrity and have her lifetime wish fulfilled.

For Lifetime Wish, I did Vocal Legend.

For Favorite Food, I did Spaghetti lol. I don't know what to do there.

For Favorite Music, I did Pop.

For Favorite Color, I did blue. I googled it and first thing I found is blue. Based on where I found that, it's probably not reliable but I just did it because I don't know what else to do lol.

Astrological Sign: Scorpio, because she was born November 21st.

Thanks :)

I think you are supposed to focus on the facial structure and body before thinking about clothing and traits. From what I can see Carly has very dark copper toned hair and almost milk white skin + a very thin and petite build. Your sim on the other hand has black hair, -good skin for a base- and an almost muscular, thick build. So I would say make her less muscular and thinner, she is almost fae like in physical way.

For the face:

-Your sim has a very heart shaped face with softer features while Carly has a shape with sharp features and a pointy chin, not a heart shaped face.

If you could upload a face-shot of her with NO makeup I could help you more :) You have a very good base, but it is not 'Carly Rae!' yet, but you will get there! :)

Okay thank you. I will get to that soon. I didn't put much time into facial structure or her body weight. And my download link was removed... should I upload my crap sim to the site? lol

We can help you the most if you put nice big pictures of the model's and the sim's faces looking straight ahead with neutral expressions (not smiling, etc.) next to each other. For now, please make the sim bald or with really short hair so that we can see the facial structure. I think you've done a good job with the clothing colors. (You might want to consider a print for the top and slightly more brown/darker leather for the shoes in the everyday outfit. The formal dress looks really nice.) Your download link was removed because the sim has to be submitted for approval first before it can be made available to download on this web site. Hope to see an update!

Yes, what SimmyRN said. Also, screenies need to be taken in-game, not in CAS, because sims look completely different in-game than they do in CAS, and it's only how they look in-game that matters. Put your sim in a well-lit room with neutral-coloured walls and no daylight coming in, to get the best and clearest shots.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and put all the screenshot requests in one. I'll try taking a close up picture of her in-game in a well-lit room with no hair and no makeup.

How can I get the Sim approved? I just try to upload it? I'm going to work on the screenshots right now. I don't know where to get a picture of Carly Rae looking straight with a neutral expression, but I'll try doing that for the sim in the screenshots.

Out of all of the mistakes you can see in the side by side picture, the most obvious ones are the facial structure and hair color. I'm going to work on those two. The makeup looks off, but it's based off of my first picture I posted in my first post.

I've worked a little bit on it. I think it looks a little bit better but still not good. The facial structure is still off, but I'm having trouble finding the right one. The nose and mouth placement are a bit off too, but I couldn't get the mouth any lower. Also her blush opacity needs to go down a bit. I decided to use the makeup in the left picture instead.

Side by side updated:

I'm not liking the hairstyle a lot, but I don't think I can get much closer. The lipstick wasn't done well either. I don't know how to get that lip gloss effect

-Face shape is off. Carly has a sharp face that gets pointy UNDER the lips, at chin. Not jaw.
-Nostrils need to go down a bit
-Eyebrows also need to go down
-Eyes less open but wider to the sides
-Lips are too high and look smiling, while Carly has a lipshape that goes down and the corners make her look smiling.

You'll really want to take your close-up face screenshots in-game, not in Create-a-Sim. Sims do not wear a neutral expression in CAS and they look very different from in-game. There are tips on how to do that here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=432920

From what I can see of the CAS pic, the mouth curve slider is waaaay over to the wrong way - your sim's mouth curves down, while the real girl, when her mouth is closed and she's not smiling, her mouth curves up (the Canadian Idol pic posted upthread shows it well). The eyebrows also need to come down somewhat, and be less curved. Play with the eye shape slider to make the eyes less rounded/more squinty. And put your sim in a pulled-back or bald hair temporarily - until you're done sculpting the face - as it makes it easier to see the whole face shape.

Yes, as I mentioned in my previous post yesterday, all screenies must be taken in-game, not in CAS, because they look very different in CAS (this is due to CAS and the game using two different 3D rendering engines) and it's only how they look in-game that matters. And as HP said, they smile and make other non-neutral facial expressions in CAS, which makes it hard to get their facial features right.

The in-game pics also need to be close-ups of her face, not full-length shots taken from a long way away.

How can I get the Sim approved? I just try to upload it?
The way to get a sim approved is to polish it to perfection here in this thread until everyone agrees that the resemblance is so accurate that she looks ready for upload. Then it will be time to take the plunge and try uploading!

For me, what stands out the most at the moment is that her eyebrows are too high and curved, so that she looks permanently surprised, her mouth is the wrong shape as other posters have mentioned and she seems to be permanently smiling, mouth is too high and too close to the nose, eyes are too big and a bit too slanted up, jaw needs to be lower and squarer. She's looking a bit too 'default sim'-ish and needs some good sculpting in order to get the resemblance to the real person.

When you feel that the sim is ready for submission for uploading, just click on the "Create" tab, then "Upload", at the top of the screen. You are guided pretty well through the process. I'll be looking forward to an update so that we can help you get her "just right"!

I think that what you really need to do is play with aaaaalllll the sliders, truly, you are not gonna find just the right kind of face shape on the salection of the CAS. You really need to use all your sliders to make it perfect. And same goes with the nose and eyes and everything. Sure it will make it easier if you can find something that somewhat resembles the girl, but still you will need to play with those sliders. To make close ups in game use the tab button and mouse. Pause the game when she is making a neutral expresion and take the pic. Just then you can compare her with the real girl and see what needs to be done. Good luck!

Thank you everyone :)

-Face shape is off. Carly has a sharp face that gets pointy UNDER the lips, at chin. Not jaw.
I played with the sliders and tried, it's difficult.

-Eyebrows also need to go down
I don't know how to lower the eyebrows without lowering the eyes. Lowering the eyes was the only thing I could find that would lower the eyebrows.

-Eyes less open but wider to the sides
Lowering the eye scale was the only thing I found that would fix the eyes a bit.

-Lips are too high and look smiling, while Carly has a lipshape that goes down and the corners make her look smiling.
I saw others posted about that. I fixed that a bit.

Thanks, I used that tutorial :) I fixed the mouth a bit, is it better? I couldn't find any options for eyebrows besides color and such. Is there a way to edit the curve/size/shape of the eyebrows? The only way I could bring them down was by moving the eyes down. And I will keep her hair like the way it is in the following picture until her face is done :)

Haha permanently surprised. Yeah I saw many people caught that. I fixed it a bit. I made the eyes smaller and adjusted the mouth and nose a little.

Thanks. I have been using the sliders a lot, I'm just really really bad at finding the mistakes - like the smiling default mouth lol. I'm looking back at the older sim and seeing how noticeable the smiling mouth thing is.

Here is what I have now:

As mentioned, please don't post CAS shots, as they are no help, just in-game shots, and you need to have the sim's face looking straight ahead, not tilted down. To get better lighting on your simmie's face, put her in a room with no windows (daylight makes their faces have weird shadows) and put some soft light sources in front of her, such as a few floor lamps, so that the light is spread evenly across her face rather than it being in shadow. Also, please always post a picture of the real person along with the pic of your sim, as it is much easier to spot what needs adjusting rather than having to scroll up and down from one pic to another. :)

From reading various things you've said in your last post, such as not knowing how to lower eyebrows or how to adjust their curve or shape, it seems to sound like you're not aware that there are many more sliders that you can access by clicking on the dots within each facial feature's panel. For instance, see the attached pic of the Eyes panel where I've clicked on the dot on the drawing of the eyebrow - that opens up another set of sliders which let you lower the eyebrow, and change its curve and rotation. Likewise, if you click on the dots on the drawing of the eye, you'll find loads more sliders with which to change their shape, the eyelid shape and height, and all sorts.
http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/3/1/6/9/9/6/3/MTS_EsmeraldaF-1307526-browsettings.jpg

The same goes for all of the other facial feature panels (whole head, nose, mouth). If you weren't aware all these other sliders were there, that would explain why you're struggling so much and why she is still looking rather EA default. Try playing around with all those additional sliders for each facial feature and you'll see a world of difference!

Took a break from this as you can see! I had no idea about those sliders, thanks! Unfortunately I had to reinstall Windows and lost my sim... anyway I can get that deleted download link back?
