In one of the promo pics for Diesel, the moon is big and shiny, but I thought the updated moon was coming with Supernatural. How come it's big like that in a Diesel promo pic? Is there something I'm missing, did they update it with a patch? Does it come with Diesel? I'm very confused

SimPrograms doesn't like you doing internal links, apparently ;)
Custom moons are already possible in CAW... you see them in Lunar Lakes. It's the PHASES that are new with Supernatural.

If you're talking about the pic in this topic: http://www.simprograms.com/42118/the-sims-3-diesel-stuff-lauches-today/
then that is a pic taken by EA in which case they logically already have access to the moon phases & new world coming with Supernatural.

Actually, that's unlikely. That they took the picture with Supernatural installed. I believe one of the patches introduced the larger moon.

Which patch was it do you know? And are there any custom worlds out there that utilize the new moon? I really like it and would love to play in a world that has it

Excuse me for stating what should be obvious, but they've "redone" the moon size a few times already. The size of the moon is in one of the .ini files, and this .ini file is usually included in their new worlds, inside the .world file. Bridgeport has the moon a bit different size than the default Sunset Valley size, and the LL moon/blue planet is much larger as Srikandi mentions above. The LL moon is simply larger because they typed in the number 600 in that .ini file.
The look of the moon is simply one DDS image file, so this is also easy to alter; they could put any kind of moon they want in a promotional screenshot for the purpose of making the viewers think "Oooooh, how awesome!" It's five minutes' work to do this. I can also do it in five minutes as I have altered the moon a number of times. This will be different when the moon phases appear with the EP, then I guess it would be one hour's work (fun actually) to alter it to some different look and size.
