....is that how you spell it?

Anyhoo. I am having the hardest time finding him a mate. Usually they go Downtown or to Bluewater to do some grocery shopping and voila they are engaged in like a day or two. Nothing. He is only attracting (no offense) elderly women, Cassandra Lothario, Nina Grey (Caliente), etc. I have no issue with that but then there can't be little Malcoms or Malcomettes running around!

What did you end up doing with Malcolm (if you have played him) ? I am curious as I am at a loss right now.

Oh and another question ... didn't want to make another thread but I hired him a butler ... what does the butler exactly do? Do I need a maid too?
(Malcolm can't do anything himself)

Aww, haha. I've just reached him in my Uberhood rotation, and will play him today after spending the last two days redecorating his house. But when I was playing the Jocque family, he snagged himself his first kiss when Violet was on a community lot, so I'm intending to see how many bolts he has with this woman.
If you have a butler, you should not need a maid - or a nanny or a gardener. The butler takes care of all that. You CAN hire other service sims if you want to take the pressure off him or if you need someone to watch the children at night.

I would just use the matchmaker on him if you haven't found anyone and give her a lot of money so she can find him a good match :)

Im pretty sure that's what I did with him and he ended up marrying her. Her first name was Mona (I cant remember the last name) and they were both fortune sims. Perfect :D

I am still in the process of redecorating his house. I got the outside done, that needed some tweaking. But the inside ... wow, what a mess. That whole upstairs and only 3 rooms? That office is the first to go LOL!

I think I may have to resort to the Gypsy Matchmaker this time, I try not to but he does have the money, so we shall see what she conjures up.

As for the butler, thanks for the answer, I wasnt sure, I just got Apartment Life and figured I would try it out, seeing as how the Landgraabs would naturally have a butler or something of that nature.

My Malcolm is married to Dina Caliente, but they're about the same age in my game. Right now, he buys the things he rolls wants for and plays with their kid. Maybe this thread will give me some ideas too.

I have read many complaints on here about the butler and the matchmaker, so I've never messed with either. Paying the matchmaker a bunch of money is apparently no guarantee that she'll produce somebody in the desired (or even legal) age range, and butlers are apparently useless if there's a toddler on the lot.

I haven't played Malcolm, but is there a reason not to just make a CAS sim specially for him? That way you could fix the genetics to meld with his in ways you find appealing, match his turn-ons, aspiration, and star sign for the desired degree of boltage, etc.

Have you tried any YAs? Heather Huffington would just love to get her hands on a Landgraab, I'm sure! What about the Diva?

I have used the matchmaker before, and for Darren Dreamer she matched him up 2x with an elderly (again no offense) Sim ... so you are right there are no guarentees with the age group. I didnt know there are issues with her matching up non-legal Sims with adults ... eek!
I did hire the butler and he spent alot of time raking leaves. I thought he would answer the phone, greet people and such, so I am not sure he will be of use to me.

And as for the CAS Sim ... I dont create Sims, I play only game made characters .... so whats in the game is it. Heather Huffington is still in Uni and has a few semesters to go ... but that is not a bad idea!

In my game, Malcolm is actually one of the few sims who I chose not to marry. He does, however, have many one-night-stands/affairs :giggler: I plan for him to have a "mistake" child with one of them. She will leave the child on his doorstep. Over time Malcolm will learn to love his child and his whole outlook on life will change, like a corny comedy.

Your butler will greet people if you tell him to. Click on him and choose the door policy you want. I don't know about phones, though. In my Landgraab house, in addition to taking over the nannying, maid duties and gardening like someone mentioned, he serves meals, keeps the refrigerator stocked and calls the exterminator if needed. I've seen him repair things, too.

I'm sure the Gypsy was intended to do a better job, when paid well, but she apparently chooses dates at random, regardless of how much she's paid. So she's a bust, with regard to finding sims good potential mates, unless by sheer accident.

TwoJeff's Find-A-Mate Crystal Ball works like the Gypsy should. I don't use it much, but when I feel I need it, I absolutely love it.

Personally I love the gypsy's awful matchmaking. I'm sure she's messing with my sims on purpose. But I don't use her if I want an actual, decent match, just if my sim wants a random date. After blowing 5000 and getting bad matches, I now pay her pennies and laugh at the results. If I want my sim to find a proper partner, I have them trawl community lots and hope for the best, or accept random blind dates, because they seem to work out surprisingly well. I have the Find-A-Mate Crystal Ball, but I haven't used it yet. I might use it for Cyd Roseland though as he has a horrible love life in my game.

I'm not sure who to pair Malcolm with in my game either. So far he is seeing Dina (Caliente) Goth, but I don't want him to marry her. I want Dina to stay in the Goth mansion since she is raising her and Mortimer's teenage daughter. Morty is a ghost now. I think I want Malcolm to have a son to carry on his name though. He seems so lonely living in his huge mansion all by himself. Heather Huffington is already married to Ashley Pitts in my game so she's not an option for Malcolm. I can't really think of anyone out of my playable, single female sims who would be a good match for him.

I don't use Butlers. I personally don't like the fact that they stay for so long. I feel like they get in the way more than they actually do anything. I prefer the maids. They do their job and leave. That's just my opinion though.

Just got done with Malcolm's nightly Downtown clubbin' ... he finally met someone! Gina Royce, a SimJazz Instructer is smitten with him! The had two so-so dates but she keeps coming back and his a two bolter so I think this is a go! She hasnt been inside his home yet and so far he's not letting on how much he is worth ... we will see how that goes! He has to make sure she's not a gold digger *cough*Dina*cough*

Lola Curious-Smith, or Singles, depending on if you have them named the way they shipped or fixed. I've seen him paired with Jodie Larson lots of times. Jessica Peterson has tried to snare him a couple times, which I figure he, being old money, would know her sordid past and say get lost. But usually I get him together with Cassandra Goth or Lola Curious-Smith.

Well first of all, I changed the name to Malcolm IV Landgraab, because it's silly to have the IV at the end where all of the sims will inherit that last name. Malcolm in my game has a never-ending feud with Frances J. Worthington III (university ep), and competes with him as to who can have more money, nicer businesses, a nicer house, and the perfect family. So he's constantly working and raising up his businesses and buying new businesses in my game. He married an employee of his and are working on their first child. I like to think of him as excessively arrogant: paintings of himself decorated all over his house, furniture made out of gold.

Someday the feud may change to a romeo and juliet-like story where a daughter member of one family marries the other family's heir, but right now neither family is set up to do that yet.

I want him to have a baby with someone and call it "Malcolm V" even if it's a girl... now I'm hoping it's a girl.

I wanted some little Landgraabs running around for my story at my rich kids prep school, so I made him a 'CAS mail order bride' and moved her in. They got on really well and had twins, a boy and girl. The boy isn't bad looking, the girl was less fortunate and is also as mean as a snake.

I just create a Sim. Or if i play Belladonna Cove, I match him up with Tara DeBateau. They actually have cute kids.

I have played his lot all day, also redid Club Dante (man was that ugly) ... and of course the business got downgraded (apparently EAxis characters like ugly Eaxis design? ) LOL
He and Gina got married, they go married in a small ceremony in Bluewater Village (in the park) and are now pregnant with their first child. Malcom gave up his large office and moved it across the hall just outside the master bedroom. His office is now the nursery suite ... we will soon have little Landgraabs running around Bluewater! I have to say I am beginning to like him!

Now as for the other problem, Nina Grey (Caliente) is getting on my nerves. Malcolm and Nina had a fling awhile back, long time ago, but she will not let go, she is happily married but she happened to be downtown while Malcom was on a date with Gina. Nina slapped Malcom silly ... thankfully Gina hadnt noticed. But now like multiple times a day, she will creep past the house and kick the garbage can over! She is caught sometimes and if she is ... she will invite herself in and hop into the hot tub or help herself to dinner or use the internet ... she is sooo two-faced.

I tend to go one of two ways with him: I either have him as a money-hungry tycoon who gets married to Dina Caliente after Mortimer dies (moving from one rich guy to another, although this one she won't outlive). They end up with a huge empire and a few children (including a boy because I cannot see Malcolm IV letting anyone other than Malcolm V inherriting), being the richest family around -- if Dina hadn't married in, they and the Goths would be very inter-connected by marriage.

If I'm feeling nice, thanks to one time when the Matchmaker dropped Brandi Broke out of the sky, I have her get a rags to riches tale going, with all of her children moving in to the Landgraab estate and being set up with trust funds. Brandi has at least one child with Malcolm to properly inherrit the estate (he likes his step-children, but much prefers a child of his own DNA) and manages to encourage him to help set up funds for children from poorer households that want to go to university. They do have to achieve high requirements, but it's still an option for teens who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to go.
