N4 to N4

I'm sure that title does not make much sense as is lol...

I was going thru all my back ups & found my first orginal custom neighborhood (total shocker) a few months ago I deleted that neighborhood from my game, it was completely vanillia (seriously the very very first neighborhood I played ;) ) & I had thought it was borked....after reading many threads & much clarifcation from Darby, Maxon & Mootilda, turns out I'm just paranoid :lol: ...SO: when a neighborhood ie: N4 is deleted & you create another custom hood, another N4 appears, which is what I am playing now...my long-winded question is: if I were to take N4 '12 out & put my back up of N4 '05 in, would that be destructive? Or a VBT? Or just irritating to my game files?

As long as you back up one 'hood, you should be able to delete it and replace it with another one, I'd think. If you back up your '12, delete it, then copy '05 back in...I would think that if you've added EPs since then (and custom content) it should be okay. Just that your Sims from that 'hood will be able to do more things.

You should be able to play either N4 safely. If you'd like to play both, you can rename one of the two neighborhoods by renaming the neighborhood folder (for example N004 -> N009), and then renaming all of the files within that folder (N004_ to N009_).

I've done that with Life Stories 'hoods, renaming the files. Takes a bit (unless there's a shortcut I'm not aware of).

There are programes for batch renaming files. I use Advanced Renamer.

And I use Bulk Rename Utility--though the learning curve is a bit steep.

Yeah, get a a file renamer programme - there are a good number of free ones on the net. I think I use the originally named File Renamer. I've used it several times, most recently to rename the Polgannon neighbourhood to N234 or something like that.

thank you so much :) I'll start the google search for the file renamers...I wasn't aware I could do that
