What are some things that go on behind the scenes in the sims 2?

For example; I've read somewhere that when your sim calls a sim through a phone, the sim your calling will appear [but be invisible] on your lot.

True - that's how the game deals with that. It calls up the file of the callee I guess so that it can update the relationship status of said sim when you save the lot.

I often find that knowing how things work makes me enjoy them less.
Like, if I've eaten something really yummy, then learn how to make it, it doesn't taste the same since I can identify everything that's in it, that makes it taste the way it does.

I'm exactly the opposite. I love understanding how things work under-the-covers. It doesn't destroy the game for me at all. I still find it easy to lose myself in my sim's lives.

I noticed that when you use the Sim Blender or something similar when a Sim is on the phone, you can adjust the settings for the Sim that is being called.

Now I know why.

That's pretty cool. I love to know how things work :D
