Reversing "add sim to household" cheat.

Hey guys;
I was recently taking photos of a house I'd built and used testingcheats to add a NPCs so I could put them in poses; I have a problem now, because unlike in Sim 2, you cannot just shift-click them and select "deselect sim." No, Sims 3 wants to be more difficult.

So my question is whether there is a way of making them NPCs again WITHOUT 'edit town' (Because I suspect that will get them out of my house, which I don't want. I want them to still be there, holding their poses.)

The only way I found was to cheat their relationship with a Key sim up to 100, and then move them out. Then the Key sim invites them over as guests. With a 100 relationship they will be over unless they have to leave to go to their job. And they will accept an invitation to spend the night, so they won't go home at 10 PM.
