View Full Version : I -ALWAYS- get twins [SOLVED]

At the moment, I have everything up to AL, without any SPs except H&M, K&B and IKEA. Took out my entire Downloads folder, but still nothing.

Everytime my Sim (no matter is it female or male) gets pregnant, it delivers twins. As always, I save moments before the labor, so I can always get the gender I want, but I always get twins (but on each time I enter the lot, it's ♂♂, ♀♀, ♂♀, ♀♂ in order).

Has my game gone nuts, AGAIN? Also, my Sim's never eaten a cheesecake or anything that could encourage twins.

How/Can I fix that in SimPE? Or find a mod that disables twins (although I'm pretty sure there isn't any, because twins are something special and rare in other people's games)?

I have FT, as mentioned above, but neither of my Sims is Super Fertile. In fact, neither has a family aspiration. But the male Sim does have the Summon Aliens benefit.

You can fix this for each individual sim in SimPE by finding the pregnancy controller in the sim's memory, choosing the raw data tab, and setting the number of babies to 1.

More generally, you could create a pregnancy mod which sets the likelihood of twins lower, even to 0%. If you'd like, I could probably make that mod for you; it's a pretty simple change.

Have you downloaded a lot from the exchange? You can wind up with unwanted hacks that way, and I'm almost certain there's one for "twins always."

DJ mentions that he removed his Downloads folder and the problem remained. Although, one should also clear the caches, to be certain:

Forgot to mention that, I did remove the cache files. :) I always do that when I remove/add CC.

OK so I'll try 'tweaking' my Sim's pregnancy in SimPE. Thanks again, Mootilda!

Also, I'd really like if you create that mod. Because I only plan on having -one- pair of twins within 30 Sims, so yeah. :)

And the last question: is it possible that I have your mod installed in game, and when I wish for twins, I could just tweak the Sim in SimPE on the way you described? Or I'll have to take the mod out before the "spin 360 and BAM! you're pregnant"?

ETA: In SimPE, on the # of babies to have, it says "0x0002" (which, I assume, means 2). Should I change it to 0x0001 or 1?

It never hurts to mention the cache files; not everyone knows to delete them.

I believe that SimPE will allow you to type in either 1 or 0x0001. Either is acceptable. However, if SimPE doesn't like 1, type in 0x0001.

I could create two mods: never twins and always twins. It's an incredibly simple mod, as you'll see when you get it. Note that this mod will cause a reset.

There may already be mods which allow you to choose the number of babies. I believe that the "triplets and quads" mod does that, for example. You might want to look into that mod.

The insiminator lets you change number of babies between 1 and 2 on a pregnant sim.

If only insim didn't conflict with everything under the sun.

One question: do you have any pregnancy length mods? The twins mods will conflict with any mods which change the length of the pregnancy.

[Update:]
Yes, Triplets & Quads seems to have this option. What's more, you can set your own odds for each of single, twin, triplets, or quads. So, you could set them to 100%, 0%, 0%, and 0%. Sounds like it should work for you:

No, I have no mods that tweak pregnancy whatsoever.

I'll better of type in 0x0001, because I don't usually have that much luck when I tweak the game. :D

And also thanks for the link Mootilda! That was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. (I may be excited tweaking Sims now, but doing it for every pregnancy (which I calculated - there will be 11 of them (controlfreak/nerd)) will sure get on my nerves. )

Alright, thanks! I guess this is solved now.

PS You said that InSim conflicts with everything under the sun - does it really? And InTeen, what's up with these mods, do they really harm the game that much? Wow.

They have a lot of functions. These functions modify a lot of different game resources, and are always functioning. Two mods which modify the same game resource will conflict with each other, unless they are both usually turned off, and only activated under a set condition. (Like an object which is only functional when it is placed on a lot.) Even then, if you notice odd behavior in your game you should suspect the two "conflicting" mods first. Insim is also not supported anymore, which makes it less desirable. If you really need the functions (other than all the objects it adds, which can be useful for scenery for pictures.) you can try the Sim Blender. It has quite a lot of the same functions, and it only works when you buy that little tree and put it on your lot. And it -is- supported.
