Hi.
I made this tutorial: SaraMK (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=0370f23b857db519115653b2af7d75a0&topic=7267.25)
I applied all the steps correctly, the neighborhoods work well, but when I try to load a lot, the game just closes.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

Did you create an AnyGame with the required EPs? Specifically: Uni, NL, and OFB.

Did you enter and save every single lot in Life Stories before porting the hood?

The tutorial in post #32 works. I've done it.

Hi Mootilda.

1: yes, I have all expansions.
2: yes, all lots

Is rare, I did with the pet stories neighborhoods and work perfect.

I have all expansions.I believe that's your problem. Try creating an AnyGame with just Uni, NL, and OFB. First, get the game working in your Uni, NL, OFB AnyGame, Then, if you want to port that neighborhood to work with all EPs, I would recommend that you edit and save every lot in your AnyGame first.

I have to uninstall the other expansions?

Mootilda

No, I believe that you need to install the AnyGameStarter (assuming that you don't have an incompatible pack), and then create an AnyGame with just those three EPs.

In the interim, I'm going to try porting to an all EP game to see what happens. I seem to remember crashes.

But I never use the AnyGameStarter, it is very complicated to use?

No, it's easy. Check it out here:

The main thing is that you cannot use the AGS if you have downloaded games, or any of the later collection packs (Best of Business, University Life, Fun with Pets).

Ok, I will try it.
Edit: I can not use it, my game base is megaluxe.
What I can do?

Mootilda

Is megaluxe the same as Double Deluxe? Double Deluxe is supported by the AGS.

I am going completely from memory here. My memory is that the lots would crash my full game unless I opened them in a restricted game first. I can't get the lots to crash now, but I believe that's because I played them all in my Uni / NL / OFB game. The only way that I could check this would be to do the entire port from scratch.

Yes, includes base, Nightlife and Celebration.

Mootilda

Then you should be able to use the AGS.

Another question: have you got all of the objects ported from Life Stories?

Yes, all.

Mootilda

In that case, I honestly believe that you should be able to get this working. Based on my experience, this technique works.

Install the AGS. Create an AnyGame with Uni, NL, and OFB. Port the Life Stories neighborhoods and CC to your AnyGame. Everything should work fine.

Open and save every lot. Then, copy the neighborhoods and CC to your full game. At that point, you should have no problems playing any of the lots.

Sorry for my ignorance, but this is beyond my knowledge. I uninstall all expansions and start again.

EDIT: I try again with AGS, and it is the same, the neighborhood work well, but the lots not run, when I try to enter a house the game crashes and closes.

You've obviously done something differently than I did, since mine work. Do all of the lots crash, or just some of them? Are you sure that you have the correct version of the objects? I know that there's a version out there that wasn't done correctly. Do you have the careers? Lots could crash without the careers. Do you have any other CC installed? If so, are you sure that there are no CC conflicts?

inu300988

I have tried a lot empty and also closes the game, How I can know if the version of the objects is correct?, no, I not have the careers.

EDIT: I surrender, I have incorporated the careers, the CC only from life stories, and does not work. I do not understand why it does not work, I do everything I suggest and does not work. :(

Another one: you'll also need the roofs. I believe that most of the houses have custom roofs. You might want to re-read the entire MATY thread; objects need to be ported correctly to work.

I'm sorry that I'm not having much luck helping you. I did the port a number of years ago, but I remember it being fairly straightforward. Each lot took a long time to load the first time, as the game does the necessary conversions, but then behaved normally.

Perhaps someone else will have some ideas.

On the contrary, you've helped me a lot.
Now I uninstall all expansions, and re read the post.
by the way, You've tried it with all expansions in their game?

Mootilda
27th Jul 2012, 05:52 PM
Yes, it works in my all-EP game. However, my memory is that it crashed when I first tried it. Since then, I've opened and saved all of the lots in my Uni, NL, OFB game. The game that I ported to all-EPs was the game where every lot had been opened and saved in the AnyGame. That's why I believed that creating an AnyGame might help you.

So what I should I do is install the 3 expansions necessary, open and save all of the lots, and then?, I continue with installing the other expansions?

Mootilda

If it didn't work with an AnyGame containing Uni, NL, and OFB, then it's not going to work if you uninstall all of your other EPs. That AnyGame is equivalent to uninstalling your other EPs (only with far less heartache).

You really need to figure out why the crashing is occurring. I scanned over the tutorial and the main thing seems to be that each lot needs to be edited in Life Stories before moving the neighborhood over. The second thing that I saw mentioned was the CC, including the roofs and careers. I didn't see any other reasons for crashing, although I might have missed something because I scanned it fairly quickly looking for ideas.

That's why I suggested that you re-read the thread carefully. Perhaps there's something else that I missed.

Ok, anyway I uninstall and start again.

EDIT: I have read the tutorial again, but nowhere mentions the roofs and careers, please, Can you tell me where it says?

Mootilda

No, as I said I just skimmed over the thread. I didn't keep reference post numbers.

Let's see, there is good news.

I change the base version of the game that was previously The Sims 2 Double Deluxe to The Sims 2 Deluxe, I then installed The Sims 2 University and finally installed The Sims 2 Open for Business.
I went back to doing what the tutorial tells, and worked!
But I found something that catches my attention:

Extract from the tutorial:
"When Version Number is deleted and Number ID's are replaced with Sims 2 versions (yanked from original Maxis 'hoods), the occupied houses load with no problems. However, only two houses were tested, so this is not for 100% sure. SEE INSTRUCTIONS AT END OF POST (it turned out to be not quite this simple)."

SaraMK says: delete the version number and replace the ID number.
I replaced it the ID number, but I did not delete the number. This may cause a problem?
And another point is: I installed the remaining expansions, this can cause the error?

Here attached some screenshots:

this is the ID number:

this is the version number:

As seen in the images are not the same, What should I do?

Otherwise, you are basically writing your own tutorial and then you're on your own for making it work. The tutorial as written works, with the caveat about the installed EPs.

No way it will work after having installed all the expansions?

EDIT: the game crashes when appear a new sim, npc or townie in the lot.

As I explained, once I visited all of the lots in my UNI / NL / OFB game, it seemed to port to Mansion and Garden without crashing.

I am visiting the lots, but, have to spend much time in each house? moving furniture?

EDIT: Today I have installed the Pets expansion and works well, I will continue with seasons to see what happens.
I still think and maybe the error was caused by The Sims 2 Double Deluxe version, What do you think?

Mootilda
28th Jul 2012, 05:42 PM
I honestly don't know. Did you install the Store Edition?

inu300988
28th Jul 2012, 08:42 PM
No, I've never used the Store Edition.
I will continue with the remaining expansions and the stuff packs, and then I report if it works.

Something else: to add the neighborhoods of pet stories, I follow the same tutorial, but I need ID number, I did what you indicated you me, but when I press the button "make unique" in Simpe does not work. What should I do?

Mootilda

Are you using the IDNO record from Pet Stories, or have you replaced it with an IDNO record which is compatible with the TS2 game? The first one won't work. You'll need to extract an IDNO from a valid neighborhood compatible with your EPs and replace the IDNO record from your Pet Stories neighborhoods.

inu300988
28th Jul 2012, 09:22 PM
Do I have to create new empty neighborhoods and then extract the IDNO?

Mootilda
28th Jul 2012, 10:19 PM
That should work. Be sure to delete the temporary neighborhood once you're done with it.
