package files opening with adobe

how do i fix this or make them open as i originally dowloaded them

First of all, it doesn't really matter what they are set to open with if you double click them, although Adobe can be a bit slow-loading for that purpose. The game can read them anyway.

But what you need to do to fix it is to re-set the file association. I'm not sure how to set it back to "Unknown Application", but setting it to open with NotePad would work. (Or you could get s3pe, as I believe it will offer to set the file association for you if you run the installer.)

To set it to NotePad, you can find a package file and right click it. Under Properties, find "Opens With" and click the button next to that which says "Change" Browse to NotePad. Now mark the little checkbox that says something like Do this for all files of the same type, and click Apply. Click OK, and your package files should now open with NotePad.

There is also a way through the Control Panel, under Default Programs. Click the link to associate a file type with a program, and then scroll down to package to change it.
