View Full Version : How do I create a Hack Free Lot?

I'm interested in building a community lot to upload, but don't want to inadvertantly upload my hacks with it. I want to keep my hacks for when I play though.

How do I go about building my lot and making sure no hacks are included in the upload?

I looked around the forums & tutorials, but didn't really see anything addressing this situation.

Thanks for anyone's help! :howdy:

The best way to start is to move out all your Downloads and SavedSims out of your Sims 2 folder in My Documents and put it in on your desktop or some other folder outside of The Sims 2. Simply renaming the folder to Downloads-BKUP or something like that will not remove those items. Also, removing these 2 folders will prevent other custom content isn't shared as well. Some creators don't like their stuff accidentally shared on The Exchange or elsewhere without knowing in advance.

Thanks Daysies!
I can just replace those folders when I'm done uploading the lot, right?
PS. I love your creations! I just downloaded some while I was waiting for an answer. Thanks for all of your hard work!

If you have windows xp, you can create a new user account to build and upload from. It will be a vanilla game unless you add downloads to it. This way you don't have to worry about something slipping by, and saves having to move folders around. Have fun!
