I'm pretty sure this wasn't in the faq, so..
It's the first time that I have a family with both parents working, so I'm not sure if this is a common problem.
Anyway, I realized that the mother had her call a nanny and set up a track schedual before going to work, after that she she left. The father didn't start work until a couple hours later so I let him stay at home with the baby (and the nanny) until his carpool came. When it finally arrives he gives me the message "I know I have other responsibilities, but I can't bring myself to leave the little ones alone". Even though the nanny was there, he wouldn't go to work no matter how many times I told him to, He'd just keep giving me the same message, until his carpool left (I hope he's not fired, it's his first day of work)

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Mine did that too, until the baby reached toddler age. The only time the adult would go to work when the child was still in baby stage was when there were other adults or teenagers that lived in the house at home. For some reason the three days off work for the mother after the baby was born never worked for me. Calling in sick to work before they have a chance to call you works out alot better than just doing nothing though.

I thought mine never got her maternity leave either but I figured out that she did. It was in the form of three days vacation and you can choose whether to take them on a daily basis or go to work.

i think it's a glitch. try firing your nanny, and rehiring her. both parents can go to work even if it's within minutes of having the baby

Try hiring nanny using another option than setting up a track schedual (sorry don't know the phrase in English). Don't forget to cancel her work after both of your sims come back, and you have to hire the nanny again in the following days.

that's too much work. then you have to call everyday.
