This just started on me yesterday.

I've gone through Clean installer to see if there is a file that may be causing the trouble.

I found one in the Downloads section called www.GameIsland.ru but when I try to disable it Clean installer blanks out all the files and I can't find it anywhere in mydocuments/eagames/sims2/downloads.

Anyways, so I get the game all loaded and pick a lot to go to. The load screen shows the family and goes through the highliting of the squares and when that's all done, nothing happens except the music keeps playing and the hourglass keeps going round and round. I got tired of waiting for the family action so I watched a TV show and an hour later it still hadn't loaded and the hourglass was still spinning.

I'm at a loss as to what I may have done or loaded or deleted or whatever to cause this.

I tried the "Before you reinstall" suggestions on another thread and it didn't work. But before I reloaded the downloads back to mydocuments, I turned the game on and it did work with the original Maxis neighborhoods, houses and families.

I appreciate any and all suggestions to help me find the solution to this problem.

Thanks so much,
jan

I'm not sure but the way it sounds and acts that you may have gotten a virus into your game. Looks like some one make a nasty program that found its way into your game. Try running any virus software you have and see if it can find anything. But like I said I'm not sure.

Just wait. Sometimes the game is chewing on something and it can take awhile for the lot to load for the first time. Give it about half an hour, then start panicking. Sometimes it will go faster if you kill the game and try again.

When you run clean installer, look under type for any career packages. Disable them and try your game. If you download houses, you may have picked up a pre-uni career. These are known to sometimes cause this problem. Goodluck!
