View Full Version : Blender weirdness

So, I found out you can delete a polygon face in Blender and downloaded it. Anyway that's beside the point. What I want to know is how come when I import my roller blind into Blender, it seems to have its feet encased in some sort of huge concrete block which isn't there either in Milkshape nor in the game?

Inge,
Blender starts off with a cube mesh already on the board
I have no idea why it does that :)
but you can just delete it, it should be a different mesh than your roller blind
go to 'Object Mode', select the cube mesh and delete

I could understand if it did that to help you get started, but it's weird to do it to something you have already made. If I deleted the block and saved my original object again, and loaded it again, would it put the block back in? :D

When you open an object in blender, it just loads it into the existing scene. If you start a new scene you have one default cube, so when you import an object you get the object and the cube. If you added twenty cubes then imported your object, you would have twenty cubes and your object on the screen.

And of course there is the additional complication that what's standing up in MilkShape appears to be lying down in Blender. 3D modelling for games is an amazing surreal world :0 I am glad you can delete faces in MilkShape after all, I don't understand the controls in Blender. That's the same reason I had to dump Truespace.

Inge,
don't know if you've dumped Blender yet,
but you just change the view by pressing the numpad keys :)
but I agree that using al sorts of different programs would lead to confusion
I get confused enough with just the one :)
