Help with custom career

The problem is simple. I began the process of making a new career months ago and have forgotten a lot of the technicalities, and now I also notice that some of the tutorials for base careers are now dead links. So my problem:
I've created a new career but can't figure out how to get it into the game. On top of that, I'm positive I didn't overwrite the medicine base career which is the one I used for my new career, but now the medicine career doesn't show up in game either. What on earth have I done???

Having just used a combination of Bidous career plugin in SimPe and psions career tutorial, i have managed to get a career to work fine.
to change the GIDs i used this

that makes sure my career doesn't over ride the science career Bidous template is based on

what i can't find is something to help me make a custom icon though :(

Ah beauty, problem 2 is solved. I'd downloaded a nursing career and the old GUID was the same as the medicine career base package. I just copied and pasted the new into the old of the nursing career and updated it. All good now, I have my medicine base career back but I still can't get my custom career to show up. I followed the GUID guide and everything. I reckon I've missed a step somewhere, not with the GUID though.

Ah yes! Fixed problem 1 as well now. Darn that hidden 'commit' button. Will have a Pre-Hospital Care career beta up shortly.
