need help with downloads

Hello, my name is Tannim,

My girlfriend and I are severely hooked on the sims 2, we have downloaded nearly 4200 items into the game, this has recently caused the game to slow down to a very drastic state. Is there a tip or trick to help alleviate this severe slow down on the game that we should know about?

First of all, new meshed objects can really slow your game down drastically and also can ruin your video card if they are too high in polygon counts.

I've even seen a few HAIR meshes as huge as 5,000! I had to chunk 90% of my downloaded user-created objects because they were risky to slowing/ruining my game.

You can use SimPE to check your object meshes.

If you have "Nightlife", try disabling reflections on the mirrors and disable "decorations" from showing from your house view.
