It was finally June, and Candi was torn between her desire to embrace her new life with Donte in it, and her desire to pay due respect to Denny and Angie.

The funeral service proper in the church would be held soon, but Candi wanted a private ceremony as well. It was easy enough for her to arrange with the funeral home owner, Pong, since he was quite familiar with her from forensic science classes.

Pong: "I am convinced, that in both life and death, Denny really wanted for Candi to find happiness, even if it wasn't with him.

He would be proud today, to know that she has found what she always sought. Greatness has come to us today, even though it had to come via extreme chains of horrific tragedies."



Pong: "And so, in closing, do I say, Amen!"

Donte and Candi: "Amen!"



Donte: "Your hair...why did you switch back to black? I kinda liked it red!"

Candi: "I don't feel like a widow with red. The red helps me have confidence...independence! But I don't want that today!

Today, I want to pay homage to Denny, who only ever knew me as his black-haired wife! My hair is also the way it was when I gave birth to Angie. She deserves to see her mom the only way she's ever known her."

Donte: (whispering) "I like it black too. Red reminds me too much of Ciem. And you're right; this is no place for Ciem!"



Donte: "I'm hearing rumors that the Sapphire King is back. I know I can stop him again; but with my back the way it is, I'd love to have you as backup!"

Candi: "Absolutely! And I promise you, love, I'll be back in the red hair and the orange tights...just as soon as I've paid in full my proper respects to the dead."

Donte: "You're going to Gerosha then?"

Candi: "Yes. I've flagged down Marina's number, and I'll be staying with her for a short while. Her trailer park is just a few feet from the Gerosha Cemetary."

Donte: "The prodigal daughters have finally come home."

Candi: "Yes. I go as a Flippo to my old land. I will resume my Levens charades when I return!"



Donte: "I'll miss you while you're away!"

Candi: "And I'll miss you while you're in therapy!"

Donte: "The war is far from over. Will Ciem be ready for whatever comes next?"



Candi: "With the help of Emeraldon...I'm pretty sure she is!"

The bliss the two were caught up in was in full bloom. The two knew they would one day marry. Yet, even once their wedding day came, their love would never be as pure, as free from worry and guilt and shame, as it was on that day they wished each other goodbye, to face the consequences of their separate pasts.
