Maxis Recolour
This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
Title: Tiny Filesize Invisible Driveway for Lot Builders
Purpose To provide a replacement invisible driveway recolour of trivial - less than 2 kB - filesize. Both the driveway and the driveway extension may be made invisible. This recolour is compatible with both Nightlife and FreeTime.
Technical Notes Complex lot builders are often juggling their included objects in order to keep the uploaded filesize within the 10 MB limit. I noticed that roddyaleixo's popular invisible driveway weighs in at 686 kB and realized that with the advances in Sim 2 modding that we have made over the last five years, I could create an invisible driveway recolour of much smaller size. Strangely enough I could not use the techniques I learned with my invisible speakers to totally eliminate the TXTR and TXMT from the recolour but had to content myself with a 1x1 transparent pixel and a stripped-to-the-bones TXMT. I tested if this recolour is automatically packaged with lots. Using AnyGameStarter I discovered that with EPs from Nightlife through to Seasons these recolours will be included by the lot packager, but with Bon Voyage and later EPs they will not. As far as I can tell, this appears to be a game bug, and apart from making this recolour into a standalone object - which would defeat the purpose of making a tiny filesize invisible driveway - I do not know of a way to force a recolour to be automatically packaged. So if you do upload your lots and use Bon Voyage or later EPs with this driveway, please remember to include this recolour in a separate archive with your other unpackaged recolours. Terms of Use You may include this recolour in any uploaded lots, whether for free or pay. Please include a credit and link to this page. Additional Credits: StephSim for her object requests, general inspiration, and the use of her medieval challenge Parson's Lot to model this recolour. Hexameter's Farm Wagon is shown on the driveway SimPE and CEP for Sims 2 object creation Corel Web Photo Paint, IrfranView, Microsoft Photo Editor and GIMP 2 for graphics file conversion, processing and sizing Numenor's AnyGameStarter, for development and testing 1117 people have said thanks to Sophie-David for this download.
