I have just reinstalled Sims 2 + the University EP on my new computer (a notebook equipped with an Athlon 64 3500 and 1 GB RAM).

I couldn't wait to play S2 on my new pc, but... it WON'T start! :insane:

I have searched on google and MTS2 for a solution and went to see in the TSBin directory - there are two Sims2Exception files, and they contain an error message and many other things.

The following is part of the file:

Hold ctrl, alt, and delete at the same time to open task manager. Now go to the processes tab and click on User name. Now click on each thing that is running under your user name and click end process. Do all of the ones with your user name EXCEPT explorer.exe , taskmanager.exe, and iexplorer.exe if you have the internet opened. Once your done just x out the task manager and start the game. To do this it might be more explained in the university booklet that comes with the game box. it should be in there. Hope this works.

It looks like you may be trying to run the Sims2 instead of The Sims2 Uni.

It looks like you may be trying to run the Sims2 instead of The Sims2 Uni.

The same things happens even if I run Uni. I uninstalled everything, removed the folders, and installed Sims 2 ONLY... but the same problem is still there.

Are you installing to the default location? I would recommend performing a clean install, removing the registry entries.

I think it could be the video card (Radeon Xpress 200M)... two people have a similar problem here: http://www.computing.net/gaming/wwwboard/forum/5984.html
