If this is in the wrong spot I do apologize but I couldnt work out where else to put my question.
I have read all the information regarding uploading files to your wonderful site, but I must be computer stupid as I still cannot work it out.
I would love it if someone would or could or point me in the right direction.
Could a tuturial be written along the lines of Uploading for Dummies (me). step by step as I couldnt work out how to get my rar. file into my upload. I worked out the picture part but not how to do the attachment.
This would be greatly appreciated.
cheers :baloons:

If you've put the pictures in, then you know about the upload manager box. The space at the very top set apart from the others is the one you want to use for your game file. Click on browse, just as you would for the pictures, and go to the location on your computer where the desired file is at. Click on it, and then choose "upload". Take note of the file size limit when you do this.
Sometimes when you package lots or sims, it packages every recolor you have for every object you use. For example, if you include a piece of Maxis furniture that you have recolors of, it will package all of your recolors as well as the piece of furniture, thus increasing the size of the file.
I don't know what kind of file you're trying to upload, so I'm just warning you about the recolors and custom content so that you'll know. The best way to get a house or sim ready for upload is to install the Clean Installer, open the file with it, and choose to save the file with only the components you intend to include with the upload. If your house contains no custom content, then you can just click the "select lot only" and do away with all of the additional walls/floors/recolors/etc that were automatically packaged.
Hmm, I'm not very good at explaining. There are links you can click on when you're uploading that will explain how to do it and what you can or can't include.

The creator guidelines explains the 'How To's' of Uploading. They can be found here: http://www.modthesims2.com/forumdisplay.php?f=338 .

At the very bottom of the upload manager is a button that says 'Manage Attachments'. Click on this button and a new window will open. The first space at the top of this new window is where you upload the .rar, .zip or .sims2pack file. When you click 'Browse', it'll open a file manager that looks at the files on your computer. Choose the .rar, .zip or .sims2pack file that you want to upload and click 'Open'. The lower part of the Manage Attachments window has spaces for 8 image files. This is where you upload you pictures. Use the browse option to select and upload your files just like you did with the .rar, .zip or .sims2pack file.
Is this any clearer? Hope it helps. :)

Thank you Julianarosala and Xylune. You both have been very helpful. I must admit that I find things like the "creators guidelines" and any thing else like that extremely hard to follow. I think I am just computer illiterate.
I have found the problem. I had a system that blocked the pop up windows when I clicked on the manage button. Now that I have had to rebuild the computer due to a virus and have installed other protection software, I can now see what you both were talking about. I am such a Dunce. lol
I even tried the tutorials for Milkshape and UV mapper, they both completely lost me.
A huge thanks to you both. :baloons:

poundingheart, you're not 'computer illerate' but still learning the language of computers. :) (I do believe that there's a big difference). I'm glad that I was able to help. Oh and, with pop-up blockers there's usually a setting to allow specific sites to have pop-up windows.
