Object download dilemma..Please help!!

i've downloaded a few objects for the original sim2 game,and when they're finished downloading,i go to open them and they are in the form of interent explorer or microsoft word,so if i open it only all these letters and symbols come up.Because of this it wont let me install them into the game.Please Help!!!

You need to download the .zips or .rars into a folder then extract the contents into your Downloads folder. The contents should only be .package or .sims2pack files. For more info on Downloading, please see this FAQ: http://modthesims2.com/article.php?t=134925.
