Lately, I have run into about half a dozen packages that cause Clean Installer to freeze just by clicking them. They never highlight as selected, and program freezes. I generally have to quit it from Task Manager. As far as I know, these packages function for other people in the game, but as a precaution I have removed them from my downloads folder until I find out why they crash the installer. Redownloading did not change anything, and one was a recently featured item on MTS2. These are a couple:

First, why do a few items crash and not others? SimPE can read them fine. Second, do they represent a problem with the objects or is it safe to put them back in downloads? The problem seems to be occurring more often since Pets, but I do not have Pets, and the spiral staircase predates it by a long time.
I have tested a file both when scanning downloads folder and when opening several house packs containing that file(freshly downloaded, two sources). The item will crash/freeze program in both circumstances. It's definitely not a memory error, nor is it a problem with my graphics card or the preview as far as I can tell. The item never even selects.
adding more info: So far all affected items are game objects, not recolors, etc.
