View Full Version : Can I reclone my cribs to use Inge's reservable code?

Hi everyone!
I have never created any objects before though I have done a bit of recolouring.

Just a bit of background information about my question - I have and use Inge's reservable crib (http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2ReservableObjects.htm) a great deal in my game. One of the main reasons I love this crib is that there are often multiple toddlers and or babies in my sim's households which means baby care needs to be streamlined and organised.
One of the best ways of keeping the sims organised is to assign each baby or toddler their own crib.

I know Inge's general policy for her coded objects is that she likes creators to use the code to make their own new objects. Unfortunately I have NEVER seen a crib with a custom mesh using her code.

I have many beautiful cribs in my game I never use because they don't use Inge's code. My question is - can I take these cribs and reclone them with Inge's code? And if so - how?

Of course I would never re-distribute any re-cloned cribs. But I think it might be handy to learn how to do this for many different objects, not just the cribs. Inge and other hackers have made many Sims objects more useful and enjoyable to use through their hacking skills. It seems a pity not to apply these benefits to all objects of a particular type.

I'm perfectly happy for you to share anything you make from my stuff! But not as pay content, that's all I ask :)

I can't remember whether the cribs refer to their own GUIDs while running their program, but to start with just try cloning one normally, give it new guids, then try playing with your clone and see if it works before putting any more work into it. If it works like that then you should be fine to go ahead with your new meshing. If not, post again and I will see if I can help.
