is it possible to draw a model in wings 3d, then draw an object with the shape i want the whole to be, then create a hole in the original shape?

original object:

wanted hole shape:

what it looks like with them intersecting:

is there any way to cut the blue model out of the gray or make the blue one a hole in the gray one?

Not in wings as far as I know. Wings is a subdivision modeler, but what you're describing is boolean modeling. My preferred technique to do exactly this is to do the boolean modeling part in "Art of Illusion", which has very simple tools to do exactly what you describe, then export that file as a .obj and import it into wings to do whatever else I want to do. :)

I've worked with Wings3D for a while now. What I tend to do is, select the whole object, select inset, and make it so that the inset goes inwards with the thickness that you want your item to be. Then select intrude until you have that shape you wanted :) I'll open Wings3D and give it a try!

The best way to make holes in wings is to use inset on both sides of the object where you want the hole and then apply bridge. Makes really smooth holes. :)
