I just read a bunch of tutorial threads and for some reason I cant wrap my head around roof building. Im thinking the one where you change the slope angles may help my situation, but I need to know if this roof is buildable in Sims2...and that the loft can be mostly usable.

The roof is buildable (with the pblem of the colour).
If so I dont think walls wil be tall enough to have a livable room.

Yes, this roof is buildable if you are patient and dedicated.

The easiest would be with PETS and use the alternate roof slope cheat (can't seem to recall its exact name at the moment). The use the shed roofs. The tedious part would be finding the angle where the two roofs match together well at the peak.

The univerasal way, which would work from basegame on up, is to do the 'custom' roof thing where you dig the shape down into the ground and then raise the ground. (If you've been reading a lot of roofing tutorials, I'm sure you know the technique I'm talking about.) In this case, the tedious part is getting every one of those digging clicks at just the right spot & just the right number.

Good Luck!

Thank you--I will try the roofslope first. My main issue with the ground click one Ive found is that I cant get the roof to respnd to it, only if it is floor tiles.

About the loft....yeah so far even with a regular roof they wont use more than the center or 2 width at the edge of the loft. I guees this build really be more for form than function. Doesnt help that maxis wont let sims crawl into the other side of a double bed, which means you always have to put it away from the wall.

The ground click method is a way to make floor tiles into roofs. It isn't for 'real' Maxis roofing tool roofs.

Ground method is not very useful with Seasons because the swow fall threw theese roofs..and for livable attics sims freeze...

Just add a tiled compressed or dummy level between the roof and the floor to solve the weather factor.

Click that, then you will be able to see into the bottom floor still. :) (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=166311)

Try using this: http://www.sims2wiki.info/Tutorials:Curved_Awning/Half_Curved_Roof

Instead of curving the roof down try pulling it up. By raising the terrain intead of sinking it. You'd have to make it a two story house. GLuck Kimdelle
