Right i wanted to start work on a new house in which i will be moving my sims into once its finished.I am planning on a slopped garage which i can do using the tutorials quite easily and i want to connect a basement floor to the garage at the left side or right again quite easy i think and then have a floor on top, thats all easy enough for me

What i want to do that i am not sure about is make the basement hidden behind some landscape so that all you can see is the garage and the upper floor to the left or right. The sims might use the basement as main entrance.

if anyone can help that would be great, thanks in advance

You can "hide" the walls by adding trees and shrubbery or raise the terrain, although there will be a one-tile gap between the walls and the terrain.

May try these tutorials as well when necessary.
