I've looked through all the FAQ's about this issue but my question was actually formed while reading a FAQ regarding installing patches that was a bit confusing to me.
Here's a quote from the specific FAQ:
Why do I need to patch every single expansion or stuff pack? Is it not enough to just patch the most recent release?
A: You need to patch all releases because every new expansion is added on top of the older expansions, but it still requires the other releases. For example, Open for Business is a newer release than University, but you do not get access to the University features unless the Uni expansion pack is also installed. The game uses the files for all expansion packs or stuff packs you have installed, and therefore you need to make sure all of them are running on the latest version by installing the patches.

I'm confused by this. Maybe it's just me being tired but here's my question.
Is it necessary to repatch ALL EP's after installing a new EP??
The answer to the FAQ makes it sound like installing each new EP will overwrite all of the previously installed EP's and it's respective patch. Am I reading this correctly??
Based on my interpretation, here's what I'd do when I buy the next EP (Open for Business) that I don't have yet:
- I currently have the base Sims2 game installed, University and Night Life. All of the patches for these games are also installed (or so I think).
- Soon I'll buy Open For Business. After installing OFB, I'm going to redownload and install the patches for the base Sims 2 game, University and Night Life. Lastly I'll get the patch for OFB and install that.
- In the future when I buy Pets and Seasons, after installing each of those I'll have to reinstall all previous EP patches as well.
Is this correct?? Do we really have to reinstall ALL EP patches after each EP install??
Sorry, if I may sound like a complete idiot here but the answer to the FAQ is a bit confusing.
Thanks for any clarification in advance
