Split staircase on a lot with basement?

Thanks HystericalParoxysm, for pointing me to this forum!

I'm trying to recreate our real-world house. When you walk in our front door on the main floor, there are about 10 stairs that take you up to a small square landing. At that point there are two new sets of stairs: one on the right leading to the upstairs family room, and one on the left leading to a hallway flanked with the bedrooms.

Here's the tricky part: I want to create this on a lot with a basement... so I won't be able to use any foundation tricks to do this. I also don't have any expansion packs.

I've read that perhaps the "constrain elevation" cheat may do this. I know it's possible, because I've seen Sims 2 houses online that have just what I'm looking for. I'd love to post the pics, but I don't want to break the rules.

You will definitely need to use the ConstrainFloorElevation (CFE) cheat. If this is your first time to use it, I'd suggest you do several tutorials that use its functions before you try to work it out on this house. Your house plan is not a good one for your first CFE use.

Assuming you are reasonably familar with CFE use and that this has a full basement ....

Level 0 - Basement
Level 1 - Bedrooms - full height above basement
Level 2 - Stair Landing - less than full height above bedrooms -- whatever you decide, I'll assume 10 clicks, that puts it at just a little over 1/2 normal wall height.
Level 3 - Living Room - 10 clicks above landing. (The combined height of stairlanding wall and living room wall needs to be at least 16 clicks.)

The bedroom wall height total (made up of 2 walls) will be 20 clicks. This is the shortest 'easy' 2-wall height to deal with because it allows you to have full size walls for placement of doors & windows and doesn't require extraordinary means for the height of the 2nd wall.
