Recoloring Rugs

I have looked for a good tutorial on how to recolor rugs and cannot find one if someone can give me a link to one or tell me how to recolor rugs it would be greatly appreciated, cause when I try to recolor them they do not turn out right. Thanks.

Maxis rugs are notoriously difficult to recolor because they were so very clever with double squeezing each pixel in the texture. For many of the Maxis meshes, the mapping makes it impossible to get the rug you want.

Many people have made new rug meshes that are easier to recolor. One of the first (and still one of the best) is Echo's Rug (http://www.eternal-echo.net/sims/objects/rugs/).

My round rugs (http://thesorceressandcompany.com/Forum/index.php?topic=223.0) are nice and easy to recolor --in my not always humble opinion.
