View Full Version : More than one recolour? (SimPE help)

Hey!I'm making my first recolours of clothes and so far so good.
But I have a little problem, though. This is what I did:
1. I made a red recolour of the outfit in Photoshop, opened an existing recolour in SimPE, clicked on "Texture image", found the image that shows the outfit (not that one in grey), clicked "Import" and substituted the existing outfit for the one I made and saved it.
2. When I went to play the game, my red custom outfit was there (but not the original one).
3. I decided to make a green and purple recolours following the same footsteps, but they didn't show up in the game!I tried to delete the red and purple and the green showed up in the game. It seems that only one outfit can show up!
Any problems I might not be aware of?
I have the base game only.
Thank you so much!

It sounds like you are just overwriting the same recolour with different textures. You need to make a seperate new recolour for each texture you want to be able to choose between.

Thanks Inge Jones!Sorry to sound so dumb, but how do I do that?
I'm sorry, is just that I'm really new to this stuff

hollywoodlola - Which clothing tutorials have you been using so far? We could help better if you let us know what you've read. If you are just making clothing recolors, you do not need to use SimPE at all. BodyShop will suffice. If you have grey clothing, you make a red recolor with BodyShop, do Import to Game, and now you have both the grey and the red. If you make green and purple, each of those is a new, separate BodyShop project. Do Import to Game for each of them. You should now have four different colors.

You can do it in Body Shop. Either change the textures between importing, or make a new project for each colour. There's no need to use SimPE at all if all you're doing is making recolours.

I`m just guessing here, but is it possible that hollywoodlola cloned the outfit, and the clone is overriding the original because it uses the same ID codes as the original?

Yeah,GeneralOperationsDirector,I think that's exactly what I was doing. I have now folowed this tutorial:
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=172166
But it is still not working!I think I am doing something wrong and I don't know what.I saved the file as "body [...] BaseTextureName.bmp"
Oh, man! I'm sorry to be buggin you all with these silly questions!

Have you tried using Body Shop?

Yes, the outfit only shows up in "Load Saved Projects", but not in the game itself or in any other part of Body Shop

Ah, easily fixed: Load it into Body Shop, then use Body Shop to "Export into Game".
...or is that "Import into Game"? Whatever. You get the idea. :)
Anyway, this will create a new outfit with new ID codes, which will not override the existing clothing, but rather will show up along with the old clothing.
