We are not the first group who's tried to bring Sims 1 into Sims 2. Take a look at these threads. Maybe we can invite some of them to join, or pick up where they left off.

There was an earlier project mentioned 'Time Warp' I think, and I KNOW I've seen it before, but I can't find it now.

Various Sims 1 items that are already made:

The entire Sims 1 wall set might save us a bit of time. ;)

BabbelSim used to have almost all the lots uploaded here, I don't know what happened to them, but we could ask her.

I think part of the reason these groups never get anywhere is because there is simply TOO MUCH to do. I think if we do our research first and collect everything that has done before we can actually get somewhere with it.

:( The Short Answer: There really isn't too much to research because not a whole lot of it is there. I've been keeping an eye out for it for years.

:) The Long Answer:
I have been very aware that this has been attempted before, in fact there was a long thread about it when Mod still had a request forum.

MellySim had done all the lots, neighborhood, as well as the walls and floors. But for some unknown reason one day ALL of her downloads up and disappeared. Hedz has done a handful of objects, but nothing that would be a full set (like all the beds, etc.) There is a list of links on the Sims2Wiki (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Content_List:Decorating_Themes#Sims_1_for_Sims_2) but it's either stuff for here on Mod, dead links, or both.

A lot of the time that I have thought about the Sims 1 for Sims 2 stuff, one of the things that comes up a lot is something in the post about what Sims Mod would no longer accept. Essentially it said that the list of celeb Sims that were on the page had been done enough and were no longer accepted, unless they were significantly improved and of much higher quality.

I would really like to have the SimNation uploads to be original content. Long ago I got tired of the S1 for S2 that were available were just the lots, but nearly no recreated objects and everything else that would make it seem like what originally existed. Its fine if there are players who want the original walls and floor pics and nothing else will do. But personally I never use those sets (and I have a few) because the quality suffers so severely. I really would like us to make completed lots, and by the way... these are from Sims 1. Appealing to the people who had never seen/played Sims 1 and offering some really nice content to the already existing quality stuff here on Mod.

Once or twice I have seen 'complete neighborhoods' or the few Mega Maxis Hoods and I LOVE those! I have Weivtnasaelp (reversed gender Pleasentview) and I just have a blast every time I play it. I think it would be totally cool to do the same with the Sims 1 Neighborhood, with complete storylines, families and everything intact. I hate to admit how many of my neighborhoods are copies of the Pleasantview and Strangetown, I just like playing the same people with different stories.

Why has S1 for S2 never really succeeded before? Because it was just one or two people at a time working on related things in a very haphazard way. Even just doing part of an expansion pack is a very long term project. I have been at this for 2 1/2 to 3 years already, it is very easy to get discouraged when you feel like you are doing everything alone.

So why do I think it's going to work this time? Because with the social groups we finally have a place to attract attention to our project, and with an open invitation to those who feel like they can contribute things (even in small ways) means even just one step closer to the imaginary goal. Even if all we accomplish is just finishing ONE house, completely, that's more than has been done for the S1 for S2 (and any other retro Maxis stuff) as a whole so far. Yes I would really like to do a lot more than that, but either way it's more than has been done before. We can give feedback and encouragement to one another, learn to do things we may have not known how to before, simply because we have a game in common.

After a few hours of chasing links and reading through a lot of posts, I have started to think about the lots. The have been redone quite a bit. So why not Sim 2-ify those as well? The original versions usually had small and sparse gardens or none except for the few showcase lots. There are SO many cool building techniques it would be really neat to see what the lots could be transformed into but still looking familiar. Foundations, garages, terrains!

PMs have been sent to ronyu02, TheSims2Player2, B|oodBane, XxHalfBloodPrincexX, & Webster

I hope this helps (in a very long winded way...)

1) YAY! My name was mentioned! ;)

2) While I agree that making our own content from scratch is good for knowing we will be able to upload it without any problems, there are some items I think we should use; such as the wall/floor set on here somewhere (If the quality is good enough, I haven't looked at it yet), or Marky Sharky from Vacation Isle.
If there is an item that looks like it is the best it can be made, I say we try our best to get permission to upload it with the set (PMs, E-Mails, death threats, etc... ;) ). If there is an item that looks OK but could be better, I'd say we make ourselves with improved meshes and textures.

3) Yes, we all have to work on this together. I'm here, and have several ideas.
I am working on a photography job and need to get the pictures edited and printed before I can really start on this.

I agree with Elephant on number 2, however I've checked out the wall/floor set and the quality is not consistent. While a few of the walls and floors are usable, there are many that are not.

I think working on making a single set at a time (like the Goth lot) will give a goal to work toward, and people who want to work on other things Sims1 related (instead or at the same time) can also be cheered on by the rest of us!

I saw the TS1 wall set used in pics in the Goth House, and even though the quality isn't good, they're still great for guides when re-making them.

Also, what about d-unit's SC4 lots?
His policy says "You may do whatever you want with my uploads, just remember, I made it."
I think that translates into: "Hey all! If a group of Simmers get together to recreate other Sim games in TS2, feel free to use my lots!"
...Or something along those lines. ;)

He has the High School, the Elementary School, the large Elementary School, the large Hospital, the Clinic, and the small Fire Station.
The lots are mostly empty shells, but since they are pretty much decorative, I don't guess that would matter.
Is there any interest in making some other lots from SC4, I think there are too many to make them all, but some would be nice. I'm not going to start a thread about this because I DON'T want to wind up in charge of that, so I'll just suggest it.

Personally I'd be glad for 'decorative' lots, the player could always fill them in later if they wanted, but not having to start from scratch is nice too.

I think adding credits to d-unit for the lots would be important.

Would it be possible to make some of those as neighborhood decorations, then? I'm always filling up my 'hood with decorative objects.
