Hello!

People requested me to do shower versions of my recently added coordinated bathroom recolors and of course I want to comply also for my own sake! But....

I am having problems with doing recolors of shower items. So far I have tried with following:
Colonel tub with curtain
AquaPlus showertub
Shower System shower unit

I have up to Sims 2 AL and fresh installation of SimPE.

First I tried to do the recolor through the separate program "Wizards of SimPE" but got told that it is not possible to do recolors on these items.
So I went to do within the SimPE instead. (internal Object Workshop)

I chose the object I wanted to recolor, chose recolor, and then it generated the files as usual, without objections or saying that it is not able to recolor. I changed the texture files, both the clean and the dirty and saved.

But in the game my recolors are acting glitchy.
The thumbnails are odd looking or looking as if it still had the old textures or even a mixture of the old and new textures.

When placed in game the object looks fine on close view, but when you zooms out it changes texture to the old texture (smooth change)! It is so ODD!

If you want to see what I mean I can upload the package files and/or screenshots. For now I hope you understand what I mean and can bring light to this problem. :)

Lots of thanks in advance!

I never tried to recolour these particular items -- but the zooming out issue sounds very much like you only imported one texture, instead of going "build DXT". Could that be the problem?

The thumbnails are kind of unreliable in that the game usually creates them once and then stores them, and doesn't notice when you update your packages. You can either ctrl-rightclick on each thumbnail to regenerate it individually, or delete "DesignModeThumbnails.package" and "ObjectThumbnails.package" in your (my Docs) EA Games / The Sims 2 / Thumbnails folder to regenerate all of them when you start the game the next time.

Sounds like you used 'Import' to bring in the texture and did not 'update all sizes'.

Using 'Build DXT' generally gives better results and you don't need to do the 'update all sizes'.

Thank you! I certainly did not update for all sizes. I was used to using that separate program that did the things for me. :)

I have installed the DX thingie but could not see the build DXT, but I will try to look at it again, I remember I had it on my old computer when I did the "neverending" vintage wallpapers.

Great, thank you, now I know what's the problem and how to fix it!

The 'build DXT' option should be on the right-click drop down menu -- assuming you have whatever those additional utilities are (see the beginning recolor tute here for exactly what you need and where to get it, if you don't already have it).
