Quick question:
Say a knowledge sim has a secondary aspiration of family, will they get family related wants as well?

In short, yes.
In long, I haven't tried it yet, but I know pretty much for sure.

Personally, mine seem to get way more wants from their secondary aspirations than from their main one's...so yes, your knowledge sim will most likely be flooded with family wants XD

Yes. That's the whole point of the secondary aspiration. They will also be able to get the benefits of the secondary aspiration from the lifetime points (except not the last one, which for family is super fertility).

Ah okay, thanks guys. I just thought that they would just get the benefits :D

They definitely do. I chose the cheese one as a secondary, thinking that it would just bring occasional cheese related wants. I thought it would be funny. Turns out it's not.
I just got want after want of "make cheese grilled sandwiches" "serve grilled cheese sandwiches" etc. And that was with it only as a secondary :( I've never had it as a primary aspiration, thank god. Never doing that again.

Yep I have a knowledge/family sim am playing at the moment....
Although I must say, Spiderchi said above they'll get more from her secondary aspiration, in my game my sim mostly gets knowledge wants (her first aspiration) with a few family ones every now and again. Maybe it varies?
Because I've also got a Fortune/Popularity and a Fortune/Pleasure sim who seem to get their wants from mostly their secondary aspiration...
Would be interesting if it was influenced by something like personality points...

Some of my knowledge sims have wanted a baby before Free Time... when they were just knowledge sims, without the secondary family aspiration.
I found that fortune and popularity sims sometimes did too.
The only aspirations that never really rolled that want were romance and pleasure (and of course grilled cheese).

Haha yep, the romance sims always feared the having baby thing, I always looked at that as quite funny!

Actually, I've gotten a romance sim to roll the want to have a baby! XD

Pleasure as a secondary aspiration has the tendancy to take over. I had one sim have Fortune/Pleasure and she had all Pleasure wants and absolutely not Fortune wants! I quickly deleted her secondary aspiration. If I wanted an all Pleasure sim, I would have just given her the Pleasure aspiration.

Me too! At the time she was pregnant, though. Wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Same here. Huge mistake. I chose grilled cheese as Vidcund's second aspiration, and it was the worst thing ever. I could never make him happy. I hate the grilled cheese aspiration!

I keep reading that grilled cheese totally takes over as a secondary.... what if it's primary and you add, say, Knowledge as a secondary? Would Knowledge then take over, or does the grilled cheese still dominate?
I just love forcing the grilled cheese aspiration onto my zombies, I think it fits them since it's the closest thing possible to having a "Brainz" aspiration, however I'd like it if they could have a few more wants than that. I suppose I'll just have to play with it and see.

It seems to me any secondary aspiration to takes over. They get loads of wants from the secondary and since giving several of my sims a secondary aspiration I never see wants from the primary one any more.
I'm going to avoid secondary aspirations from now on.

i always give my sims secondary aspirations cause it ads a little more reality to the gae, and it really varies if the second, or first aspiration is dominant. it has probably to do something with a mix of genes, interests and personality or soemthing.

Exactly how do secondary aspirations work? I don't seem to have a slot for them in CAS or anywhere else.

Same here. I think it has to do with other factors as well.
I have a popularity/knowledge sim and he gets a lot of wants from his first aspiration more than his second. And because he has gotten all of the knowledge benefits, he's a quick study.
It seems that even before Free Time, family and knowledge sims seems to have some of the same wants, just like popularity and family sims, with the majority of the wants leaning towards their particular aspiration.

I dunno, i've never had a secondary aspiration but..
Maybe if you pick an EP-required Aspiration as your 2nd one,
it tends to take over?
Such as Grilled Cheese, Pleasure, etc etc?
But, as most of you have pointed out, the Family and Knowledge worked fine.
I dont no. It could just be a coink-a-dink. :)

Sims get rewarded Lifetime Aspiration Benefits and you can use these to 'purchase' a secondary aspiration, if you will. You can use them if you select your sim, go to 'rewards' > 'aspiration rewards' > 'lifetime aspiration benefits'.
