BFF Questions???

Ok, so I have a problem. I have a story going where the son and father do not get along... the son is a child right now but I want him to grow into a rebellious teenager. The issue is that somewhere along the way I wasn't paying attention and let the become best friends through subtle interactions... like watching tv or eating.

As soon as I realized it, I used the BoolProp cheat to change their relationship level to negatives and made them furious with each other. Their portraits even turned red towards each other. The best friend symbol went away, but the friend one did not. After a while of playing without the best friend icon, and even while furious and in the negatives, they still became BFF, best friend forever.

It seems I can't avoid this BFF from occurring. Is it because they are related? Like family members just become BFF after a while regardless of the relationship status and it can't be avoided... or is it because I let them become Best friends at some point, even though it wasn't for long? Do you think if they had never become Best Friends, or even friends, that they would still become BFF? What should I do stop this from happening with my Sim's family member? Thanks! Smiles.

I don't know how but this happened to me too. I have a mother and a daughter sim. They were best friends forever later mum cheated on the daddy so both daughters became furious at her. However their BFF never disappeared.

I also had a similar problem. How i inevertantly kind of solved the problem is like this, but with hindsight its not really worth it:

Teenager went to La Fiesta Tech.
Joined Tri-Var House, whe i found out this house was in Sim State University I moved the house into La Fiesta, but this caused my sim to lose ALL of his relationships, including those of his family which now knew nothing about each other, (although were still on the family tree). Interacting with the parents became the same as any normal sim and they could even perform non-family interactions... So that is one quite drastic way to completely wipe all relations...

You could use simPE to get rid of that.

the sim blender can get rid of that, I tried boolprop with 2 sims I didn't want to be BFFs but even when they were 'furious' at each other BFF came right back, so i removed bff status with sim blender.

In case you don't know, you can find the SimBlender at SimBology (TwoJeff's new home).

I also use another mod that helps keep BFFs to a minimum, one made by Pescado. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop BFFs from happening with teens.

Keep in mind that bff means slower relationships decay too. So if you want it to go away, it wont go away overnight. (well unless you use a hack that is)
