The box was build by a very nice sim - at least in my game its black with flame patterns. He doesn't make them any more - and they are too poor to buy the station to build them right now - so I cant check is that colour always for the evil box. For sure he did build some good ones too.

The evil jack-in-a-boxes are always black with flames.

The kites that always electrocute a Sim look sort of torn and have an evil looking pair of eyes painted on.

The evil jack-in-the-box seems to turn up when the motives of the sim making it have dropped to low. Try sending a sim to make boxes when they're very tired, hungry and uncomfortable to get an evil jack-in-the-box.

This can also happen with Snapdragons--some of them are "evil" Snapdragons and will deplete motives, instead of boosting them.

Don't most teenage boys have that fear?
Yes, yes they do. :p
^I know that from experience. ::fears cleaning::

I didn't really learn anything today; and if I did, it would be on the build forum @MTS2. :p

Ok so I was playing a sim in the Music Career and she had got the chance card about messing up the song to make her rival sound bad or playing it as planned. I chose to play the song as planned and got $32,000. Then my sim got the memory "Received a big bonus."

I've been playing for a few years and received money from chance cards before, but I never noticed the memory!

Since the last thread was deleted in the purge, I figured I'd start a new one. ^_^

Today I encountered the coach for the first time. My sim wasn't even that out of shape! Weird.I discovered that it's a bad idea to use the sim modder all the time for relationships...because one of my sims ended up wanting to talk to himself and feared losing himself as a best friend- it's really a glitch, and it's not REALLY entirely game related, but yeah...i learned my lesson XD

I found out "be trainer" option yesterday. My sim was doing an exercise and I clicked one sim whose body skill is high. Here we have "be trainer" option"

At the end he trained my sim and he earned 68 simoleon. I decide to make a sim whose body skill is high enough then I will make him to open a gym. A new way to make a money.

I noticed how quick you can get enemies and how making best friends isn't as quick as making enemies.
For example, You can get enemies fast by pranking them to death. But it takes a little more time to make someone to be you sim's best friend. I had my sim make an enemy once by pranking a visitor--and later, they had the slap interaction ready.

One of the boxes with a clown is actually very evil - it will make toddlers and kids cry and adults have a hart attack.

Oh... for some reason my adults were only clapping like: "Whee! This toy is so fun."
Maybe it has something to do with how mean they are. Both of those adults who were playing with that toy were mean.

Tutor can happen after you have had at least one semester and have a GPA higher than the sim you are tutoring. (Which is easy for a dormie, they don't have one.)

You can also ask a fellow student to help with your assignments, and actually "Learn to study" from it. (It takes approximately 2 whole assignments to do it, though.) And if you help or tutor other students, you can teach them to study and they get their assignments done faster too.

That when two rich sims dies, and their children already have moved out, the children only inherit a tiny part of the fortune.

Like this: My sims Lilith & Jack Verzilo's capital was like 299.000 simoleons when they died. And their three children did only inherit like 10.000 $ each.

What's really weird is that the most of the money was left with the cat, the only one who lived in that house when the parents had died. So when I moved out the cat and moved it into another household, he brought like 260.000 $ with him.

My sim kids often have that want as well. I had one kid who kept re-rolling the want to do homework so after she did her own homework and the homework for her older brother and sister who were at work she got to do some homework from the homework table from Simlogical. Her second day of school she was an A+ student! (And had racked up over 5000 aspiration points.) I think it takes a serious sim to want to do homework. Or a knowledge teen, since I seem to get that from them a lot as well.

I just found out that if you put a refrigerator on a community lot, your sim will pay for any food a townie takes out to cook.

I just found out that if you put a refrigerator on a community lot, your sim will pay for any food a townie takes out to cook.

That's why it's always a good idea to put a door and walls up if you're running a restaurant. I tested out my reception hall with the Pleasants, and some townie decided she must cook a TV dinner while Mary-Sue is cooking and she nearly burnt down the kitchen! Then she gives the reception hall a negative star, well it's like "hey it's not our fault you wanted to burn down our kitchen"

And you also have to pay for the food you cook on a community lot. Sims 1 memories. XD

Menaceman44

I've never noticed that the cost a Townie pays at a fridge is taken from your Sim's funds. I've watched my Sim's funds before when it happens and although the kaching noise is made and the amount displays over the Townie's head my Sim's funds don't go down.

fway

I discovered that there's a "Page" option on sim phones. (When your cordless phone is missing you press a button and it makes noise.) I noticed the phone was off the hook, my sim walks up to the phone and a loud ringing noise goes off, and the phone goes back on the hook in another room. I found that quite cool.

My sim was paying for the stuff the townies took out of a fridge. His cash was dropping. (I had put a stove and a fridge on a community lot, but I had deliberately made it the wrong kind of stove to get a chef because I didn't want a restaurant there.)

If you didn't want to run a restaurant you still could have used the industrial stove, because in order for the business to be a restaurant you need a host/hostess podium.

A chef won't spawn at all if the community lot is owned. And if you're doing a home restaurant you just use moveobjects and delete it. But if you don't have OFB I can see where you're getting at.

Yep, I just saw that wicked spaceship while in neighborhood view in Riverblossom Hills, it was hovering over the powerplant chimney then flew away LOL Pretty cool..

We just got Seasons as an early Christmas present. I've been discovering all kinds of things. Like leaves on the ground interfere with fishing, and sims will rake leaves even when you want them to let the leaves stay all over the yard, and neighbors can find the paper to steal it even when it is buried in so much snow that you can't see it, and I apparently have a bedroom that is outside even though it does have a roof over it, and people will come home from work with 5 "It's snowing!" actions lined up, and....

Seasons is fun.

Dude, I discovered how to make the Snowman Constructon Set from the Sims 2 Holiday Edition "dance!"

You put the little guy together, then have an active sim click on the bottom part. Select 'Switch Dance.' It'll start changing between all the available options for the hat, head, and middle. It's kinda freaky... And you have to delete it to make it stop.

A super grouchy sim can even get angry over that. At least I suppose it was over that; I didn't see anything else that could cause a sudden furious state for no reason. (And yes, I know about the "sore loser" phenomenon. Never let a grouchy sim play any games on a date or a timed outing.)

I found out that I can add my own Sim to the NPC students without using Simpe. If anyone is interested, here is how it is done:

Create a new student in Uni CAS or pick an existing one that you can play and control. Before doing this remember, they will be the same as the other npc students and their appearance will be unpredictable. They will also be students forever, unless you bring them back or move them in with other playable students. All their previous semesters will be gone and they will have to start over, so be warned.

Place controllable student into dorm, make sure they are the only playable Sim in building. Use alt ctrl c and use boolprop testingcheatsenabled true. Click on an uncontrollable Sim with right button and MAKE SELLECTABLE. Have that sim go to the computer and Find Own Place.

When the van comes to pick him or her up, your controllable Sim will go with him or her. Save and enter the campus view. Your sim is gone (He or she is in the student section, with all the other npc students). The npc student is now playable, if you want.

I learned:
- That Servo wants to hire a maid.
- If you play a lot for too long, sims believe that the pet wolves smell, no matter how many times you bathe them.
- Everytime bigfoot gets a promotion at work, he brings items into the house.
- Bigfoot is extremely useful as a maid, and he doesn't complain.
- Bigfoot is also quite happy to sleep in a tent whilst the rest of the family are in beds.

And also, Landgraab children get uglier with every generation. No matter how beautiful their non-landgraab parent is.

However, yesterday my sim got taken away, and after getting in the car the sim showed back up at my house. (I just couldn't control her.) She ate, slept, went to school etc. just like before.... the only difference is I can't control the sim. The sim also shows up in the household picture.

I discovered that you can have a house in which dogs run the place. I had a house with a mom, a toddler and about five or six dogs. I had the controlpets cheat on but I don't know if it made a difference. The mom accidentally caught fire while she was raking up leaves, and died. The social worker came to take the kid away, and ta da! The dogs ruled the roost.

The other thing I discovered was that ghost dogs will bathe themselves. I have a bathtub outside for dog-washing (since the bathroom is too small and they all just keep circling around the tub and stamping their feet at each other) and a couple of dog graves, and in the middle of the night one dog comes out to haunt and jumps into the tub to bathe itself.

Before I installed Seasons, I had barely any problems with babies or twins (aside from the extra amount of bottles on the ground) but now these twins just won't shut up. They cry all the time. It must be a bug then because afterwards the child sim grew up to a teen. Then I made her attend college, and after all that hard work she graduated. Then she disappeared from the game. Like, not in any of the family bins anything. It's like the sim never existed. She's not even on the family tree anymore. After sims graduate they usually go back to where you can select a family, but not this sim. :( I loved her too. She had almost every skill point. And she had just gotten a new talent badge.

Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening again? Are there any patches?

While looking at the game files in SimPE I discovered that when a Sim writes in their diary it was originally intended to alter the book cover depending on who was writing. It would turn blue for a boy or pink for a girl.

I discovered today what Neighbourhood item you have to place to get the flying pig blimp to show up if you have Pets. You need to have a water tower! As soon as I selected one the pig blimp showed up and it moved around with the tower while I was placing it.

I also discovered the ability for male Sims to use a hedge to pee in! I'd heard about it before but never seen it and I've had the game since it was released. I think it happened this time because there were no toilets on the lot but lots of hedges. I didn't realise it was a clickable option. The option went though after his bladder was partly filled.

Something else to add now.
The OfB robots, not Servos, can sneeze during winter! I've just played a winter lot with a Clean-o-matic and my only Sim is female. While she left the lot I kept hearing a male voice sneezing. The only "Sim" on the lot was the robot.

And it was perfect timing because by the time he finished his homework the night before, he had zero energy and zero fun... so he had to go to bed very grouchy... spent all day watching TV and stuff LOL

Also just discovered something else, also having to do with Seasons. If a Sim builds a snowman in the backyard, the penguin will come in through the house to get to the backyard (assuming there's a back door), even if there's a gate on the fence, which would be the more direct and logical route.

My daughter is 7 and wanted to play so I made her a neighborhood, she made a sim and started playing, well first of all I discovered how unhappy and not taken care of sims can get and still live :anime: Second she didn't pay her bills.... well she calls me over because the repo man showed up and she didn't know what was happening, well he walked over to her hamster cage, opened it and sucked up the hamster! She was alittle upset, I thought it was very funny!

If you make backups of the neighborhood and make a note of the character number of your favorite sims, you can use SimPe to pull a character file out of the backed up neighborhood to replace a sim who was eaten by a glitch or a bad download. I don't know about patches.

It seems to be active toddlers with high logic that have learned to walk who get out of the crib. I had one who managed it every time, but I had created him to be in pictures so he had been fully trained and had maxed out his logic while I got everybody else posed. (I keep forgetting to turn free will off. It's amazing how long it takes to get 6 sims into position with free will turned on.)

That a sim can buy off another sim they had a relationship with not to tell their spouse for $50.

My sim was getting married and another had a fit when he saw the sim and his new wife cuddling in the hot tub together after the wedding. My sim jumped out and I noticed the option to "Buy Off for $50" and when I had him do it, the angry sim said something like "Fine, I guess I'll leave you along... for now."

If you load the sim browser in the new SimPe, you will see a column for filename. It used to just be called Number, but it's the same thing. It will be something like Nxx_Userxxxxx that you are looking for. That is the file for the character. Relationships and memories are stored in separate files from the character, though.

I also discovered that even when a Sim catches their spouse cheating, slaps him around, and cries about it, he won't necessarily break up with him. That if a sim is going into labor and her mother is around, the mother will come running and then do this kind of "breathe.... breathe.... breathe...." puckering and gesturing like she's trying to remind her daughter to use Lamaze. It's hard to explain but I hope you get the idea.

I found out yesterday that some (male) Sims can pee standing up into a toilet like most men actually do. xD

Also, while on vacation, my Romance sim was flirting with another Sim and his wife was sitting in one of those springs that came with BV facing him and looking at him and she didn't come up to slap him. So, he was doing all of these romance actions, including 'goose' and 'make out' and she didn't even notice him. But then we he and the NPC started to WooHoo in a hammock, she finally came over and slapped him.

LegolianM

I love it when they pee standing up. XD I'm not sure why, maybe just because it's realistic. That and you can actually hear it, which seems gross but I find I like that better than them silently doing their business sitting down.

I've discovered though that my transsexual man never pees standing up... all of my men do it but him! It's nice because he's not supposed to anyways. It's probably because I used SimPE to fool the game into thinking he's female, so he talks and acts like one even though he's a man.

I've also discovered that, despite how awesome it is to have the option of teen/adult relationships, I'm not sure I like it so much anymore... I have an adult man who's married to a teen, and they even have children together, but he never has any wants involving her - instead, he wants to flirt with the other girl in the house who IS an adult! I just let his wife age to see if it would fix the problem, but it didn't, she keeps having wants to move out while he keeps wanting the other girl. I've checked everything I can think of to make sure they're definitely married, and they are... they just don't seem to realize it.

I'm curious though... if you have a single adult raising a baby, if they get abducted, will the baby get taken away from being left alone...? My girl has already been abducted once but she really wants to meet aliens again, however I'm afraid to let it happen and have her baby left all alone... though I noticed the last time she was abducted, time never sped up, as if she was still on the lot, so maybe it'd be okay...?

I discovered if your sims are good dancers (uni) they can "bust a move" as an entertain thing. ^^ The other sim looks kinda scared when they do it, but lots of relationship points anyways.
Mean sims, or maybe just the kids, will hit the other sim with the snowball or ball when they play catch or snowball fight. I find this hilarious. xD

And I noticed the cutest interaction the other day- if a parent and child sim are sitting on a couch together, they can "snuggle". It's adorable!
When you play marco polo in the pool, one of the sims will sneak out of the pool when the other's eyes are closed. This is my basic real life strategy, I love how the sims do it too. =)

I've been going through my neighborhoods and killing off that annoying little Marsha because she's finally gotten on my last nerve. I was in a different mood last night and decided to go visit a house I hadn't been to in ages, and lo and behold, the man there suddenly had popped up that want, as well as a want to resurrect Marsha.

I totally forgot he'd made friends with her when he was a kid...! Well as I'd never seen those wants before, I couldn't help but let him do it... and thus I've somehow found myself with Marsha back in the neighborhood. Sigh. At least she's a pretty adult, and she actually has a rather nice personality... I may keep her around a bit and see if she hits it off with one of my guys, since she IS rather pretty. But sigh. The sad thing is, I know I can stop the pregnancy with Insim, but actual real abductions are so rare that I know I'm going to leave it alone and let him have the baby, and then there will be an alien with my medieval family. Ah well, stranger things have happened, I suppose. The anime he's from has a lot of demons and creatures, so I can just pretend one of them 'infected' him and he had a demon child.

I found out that either there's a glitch in my game* or Kent Downie is "loaded". I had one of my Sims propose and move him in. His inventory was loaded with things - and several of each, at that. He had a statue worth ~3k, three DJ booths, 3 of those gyro exercise things, and a ton of other stuff. I sold off all of it and it turned out to be worth over 50k simoleons!

*I figure it's probably a glitch, because before he moved in, he claimed to be a mascot, but once he was playable, he jumped up to Hall of Famer - without any of the requisite skills or relationships. It probably all ties into the fact that my game keeps crashing, and this particular Sim and lot crashed about four times without any saves. The maid that she had a relationship with in an unsaved crash game (and a disastrous wedding, marriage, adoption and divorce with) is still furious with her even though neither of them has any memory of each other.

I just discovered how a lazy sim reacts to getting thin. Somehow, with all my other sims, they react the same, as in they put both arms up like a bodybuilder and show off. But with a lazy sim that's different. When he/she get thin, he/she look at both his/her arms and his/her body, and then just shrugs.

Has anyone had this happened to them?

I found out that either there's a glitch in my game* or Kent Downie is "loaded". I had one of my Sims propose and move him in. His inventory was loaded with things - and several of each, at that. He had a statue worth ~3k, three DJ booths, 3 of those gyro exercise things, and a ton of other stuff. I sold off all of it and it turned out to be worth over 50k simoleons!

Maybe he bought that stuff in a playable lot if you have OFB and a store that sells that stuff? Otherwise he sounds kind of like a jackpot sim if you ask me.

I once had my Sim marry a Townie and they were loaded too - you wouldn't believe all the stuff they had with them.

I found out that Housekeeping in BV is worse than the average Nanny. A shame you can't drown them by removing the ladders. ;)

I think after Nightlife, they loaded the townie's inventory on purpose, in my opinion it would be used as date gifts, if you think about it.

Well, I discovered that if your Sims go on a date first, then you use "Ask for Permission to go out" (well it was one of Stevie's wants.) If you asked the person you had a date with to go out with you, the dated Sim will bring flowers (or other objects) to your door. :wtf: I laughed my butt off when I saw her walking up the steps with a giant bouquet of roses

First time posting, sorry if I'm doing it wrong.

I discovered that my single biology major (female) is pregnant.

She's been seen around Strangeville and the college campus with a mad scientist.

A female mad scientist.

How the heck did that happen?

I discovered that when a mean sim is playing catch, they will smirk and throw the ball hard at the other sim.

That even after two sims have left the photo booth from a public woo-hoo...other sims will still run over there and cheer at the empty booth. And maybe it was a glitch but half of them were cheering for somebody who wasn't ever even in the booth, just happened to be standing nearby.

I discovered that Gina Shaw (teen Townie that my Sims tend to bring home from school a lot) has quite the interesting family tree. I moved her to Uni so she could stay with her childhood sweetheart and decided to look and see if she had any sort of background.

Turns out she's got about 6 siblings (I didn't count), all with different last names. Strangely enough, she's part of the Tricou family that someone just mentioned a few posts ago, with a zillion dead relatives and all kinds of weird and wild family relationships.

Now I'm wondering if she wasn't perhaps actually living on a lot, and I just didn't realize it - I had just assumed she was a regular Townie, and don't remember seeing the plumbob next to her name that indicates she lives in a house.

ETA: Whoops, I guess I read about the Tricou family in a different thread; I usually only check this one so I assumed it was here. What I read in the other thread is that there is a single occupied lot in Downtown whose residents have lots of dead relatives.

I discovered how difficult it is to make Angela and Lillith friends. Geeze, I had finally got their relationship into positive, when Angela attacked Lillith while I was busy with Dirk and Dustin. After roughly the same thing happened, I decided to cheat and use the Insiminator.

I also discovered that fires are apparently bad things to happen during a date.

Finally, I just discovered that there was a penguin that came with Seasons. I had never seen it before and was a little curious to why there was a penguin running around the front of my lot.

I discovered that, when there is no fire alarm or sprinkler or phone to call the fireman, Sims take FOREVER to put out the fire themselves. They managed to do it, but it took way longer than it should have.

I discovered that Vidcund Curious gets along strangely well with Pascal's alien daughter, given that usually he's about the most antisocial sim imaginable.
