This is a glitch. The birth programming gets stuck and goes into a loop. If you close without saving and let her give birth again, you'll probably have a normal birth.

If it happens to you a lot (I've seen people's simblogs who were particularly prone to it; I think the worst case I've seen evidence of in picture form was four sets of twins) you'll want to go on a glitch hunt. For some people it's a one-off, though.

Yeah I figured that this was the cause.
I don't have a problem with that, I'll see it as a challenge to raise these triplets into well adjusted Sims xD
I'm just glad that her carpool to work arrived or else I might have sextuplets now O.O

How does one go on a glitch hunt? Can you fix glitches somehow?

You go to the Game Problem FAQ:
http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem

And you can prevent a lot of minor (but annoying and even, eventually, debilitating) glitches just by saving before you exit instead of on exit and dumping your caches every day. I've had a lot fewer bizarrely inexplicable things happen to my sims once I got into those two habits.

Instead of dumping caches, I've made an empty groups.cache that never needs to be deleted. Quick instructions here:

http://medievalsims.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=4193#p4193

Actually, you don't need to download anything. Just destroy the already existing file, right-click, select "New file", then "Text file", then rename the file to "Groups.cache", then make it read.only.

Works like a charm!

I discovered that it is not a safe idea to bow down to your sim's wish to flirt with her boyfriend his boss is around; they both have the same hairstyle and I accidently clicked on the wrong one, now boyfriend is mad...

lol, I accidentally had my fam/rom's spouse read the dream-date-flowers for his wife from another sim! He cried and lost some relationship points with her :( There was no "caught my wife cheating" memory though...

I discovered that Outgoing sims can autonomously join a hang-out conversation.

Gozer Howe was hanging out his future brother-in-law Grimm Subject when Siggeir Beaker sat down on the ground with them and joined in on the conversation. (And friendly 1-point-Nice Gozer and sweet-tempered 0-points-Nice Siggeir are like the same poles of a magnet: they keep trying to hug each other to no success.)

I'm also loving the in-law fix hack that I downloaded that allows in-laws to be viewed as family in all cases. It's made things a lot more pleasant with my grouchier sims... though Ruby still hates Grimhild, and Nervous still considers Siggeir to be nothing but a damned Beaker.

@ Levera: Go here:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/index.php?dir=al%2Fhacks%2F

Scroll down to ffsdebugger.zip. Unzip, place in downloads. Buy little black box with Batman symbol on it (found in Misc/Misc). Watch for cow mascot to enter lot. Before mascot can enter house, click box, choose SMITE!!

Experience satisfaction. Repeat as needed. The batbox has lots of useful functions (if you don't understand them, don't click them! Come here and ask what they mean.) It can prevent clones within a family, for example; fix some basic glitches, and perform routine neighborhood maintenance. But cow mascot smiting, while not essential to game enjoyment, is excellent fun.

I'm experiencing the Download Fugue State. It's hard to find all the stuff you've gotten used to again! And harder to hunt for it without downloading New Stuff. I'll have to make a "CC I don't want to live without" zip file and do triple redundant backups like I do with my most important real life files, once we get our computer back up to snuff.

That seems a little...WOW! I just wanted to watch her get eaten by a Cow Plant, and then have Cara drink her. HAHAHAH! (Now...I have realized that came out of sooo wrong) Hehehe. :P

But Smite...Whew, that would be something to see LOL :P :D Thank you, Peni, I may get this ^.^

Weirdly...I learned that male maids can have Mohawks, certainly, not professional -.-" Then again, for punk like Sims (Like mine) it works :P

I just noticed that the wolf to turn people shows up when there are babies or toddlers in the house, I never see the wolf when there aren't babies or toddlers in the house.

Peni Griffin
27th Mar 2012, 3:02 PM
That'll be an artifact of your randomization, Oreos. The Leader of the Pack has shown up in my game at David Ottomas's house while he was living alone, at the Eppie Curian household shortly after Eppie married Tiffany Sampson, and at the Munny household when the boys were teens. I believe I've seen several people comment on the attraction toddlers exert on wolves, so it may be that there's an increased chance of them when a toddler's in the house. I haven't noticed it, but I'm often so focused on what's going on indoors when I have a toddler that a whole pack could show up on motorcycles and I might not notice.

I'm fairly sure that the "make me a werewolf" want mentions that the wolves like houses where toddlers live.

Wolf visits are not dependent on the presence of an infant or toddler, but infants/toddlers do definitely increase the chances.

Sunbee
27th Mar 2012, 6:23 PM
There's also an increased chance of wolves/werewolves if you have a lot of trees. No idea how the calculations work, but my Alexandra Tetherton's (O'Mackey?) 3x5 beach lot has so many trees that I can only play it from the water side, and she's befriended and adopted a regular wolf (took two days) and the LOTP is there three or four times a night. I have probably fifty trees on that lot, or more. There are only two routes she can take out to the streetside due to the density.

Weeds too, I think. Had an outdoor lot with a leaky shower, and thus a lot of weeds, and the LoTP was a pretty frequent visitor, though there weren't many trees and no infants/toddlers.

Now that I think about it, it was while playing that lot that I got my first non-cheat werewolf. After years of having a hard time getting one (and resorting to cheats), now they seem relatively easy!

Oh thank God, I thought it was my Quads hack gone awry when I had this problem but luckily it isn't. I had a sim have SIX babies at once in a clean (except for maybe 10 mods) game in a loop of three sets of twins and I was like O_O "Um. Okay. Yeah, I need to go play something else before my brain gets turned inside out because that's definitely not possible."

I've found that you can delete the community lot phones if:

You have all the EP's-I don't remember if BV enabled the 'walk to lot' option or not-probably..and I know that having all of them ensures no lot bugging when you do this.

The reason I've deleted every single phone from the community lots is that:

A.) I'm playing a medieval hood, and they didn't have cars in those days. Only very few wealthy people actually had horses, and in my neighborhood, they don't even have those for transportation!

B.) They look out of place and ugly from any view in the neighborhood. Even the recolored telephones look ugly, (because they don't appear as recolored in the hood view) and if you're walking from place to place, why bother to have them in the first place?

It makes for a more esthetically pleasing view, and it has absolutely no effect on who shows up on the lots.

Of course if you are using cars in your hood, I can't say if this will be a bad thing or not-but so far, my game is running smoothly as ever.

I discovered that if your Sim has a cell phone they don't need a house phone to get calls. Don't know why this never occurred to me before I guess it was just habit to automatically put in a house phone but I moved some Sims yesterday into a new lot and forgot the phone. When I heard just one of the Sims cell phones ringing I had a minor revelation. D'oh :faceslap:

That in neighbor hood mode you can change the seasons, so that way if you have a neighborhood that is desert or arctic that they have the correct weather.

To be honest there is a ton I haven't messed with. Its almost like the sims 2 came out last month with all expansions and stuff packs for me.

I learned that OFB+BV= WIN ! I'm currently running a massage parlor with my sims who have learned 3 massage styles. They have no employees. Customers pay to enter as well as $30 per massage. It started making profit right away ! The only downside being it takes longer to get customer loyalty stars.

Lightning apparently can either strike the empty porch of an apartment or perhaps a puddle on the porch. I'm not sure. It was storming and I noticed there was a fire on the lot. I looked and saw a flaming rain puddle on an otherwise empty porch. Besides the rain puddle, there were no objects on the porch.

Today, I discovered that some Sims are just born to be awkward. XD

Tank Grunt is probably one of the most boring sims I've ever played. He even manages to keep his dorm clean, ace his grades and never even pee himself when I let him run amok. But I love him because he manages to mess up socially in every single context, today's failures alone being:

1) Even on his last party ever on campus, he manages to fight three new people he has never met before... AND Johnny Smith, whom he had just rolled a want to apologize to. I have a tradition to throw a party for all playables on campus for the 1st years and the graduates every game-round. To this date, Tank is still the only one in all of my neighborhoods who has managed to find new enemies year after year... while rolling wants to get new friends. LMAO. (These past four years, he has managed to get two new friends that weren't dormies from his own dorm. Jill Smith, who has just finished her freshman year, has eleven. Don't get me started on Johnny.)

I've even tried to force him to get some new friends, mind you, but Tank even manages to screw up just by talking to them and within a few sim-hours, a fight ensues. All the while he's rolling wants to joke and become friends with them. XD

2) Even with ACR, Tank's way of flirting consists of inviting his 'The One' to play catch with him for hours. And then some chess. And maybe some whistling, if he's particularly flirty that day. And then we're back to catch. Again. To be honest, I never even thought he'd make a move until third year when they miraculously ended up Sofa-WooHooing in the dorm library. They're now in love, engaged, to be married when they move back to Strangetown... and with two double-beds in their dorm rooms and a jacuzzi on the roof, they have still played catch all year long. Meanwhile, Ripp is humping half the girls on campus and leaving the other half to wish he did

I had just installed my game as well a couple months ago without any CC and now I have a lot of CC (mostly clothes ad hair because the more people I have the harder it gets to distinguish them) I even added seasons because I missed it and I can notice how much longer it takes for it to load. I almost always grab a book to boot up my game and get through at least one chapter if not two. It doesn't bother me too much since i get some reading time in, but it has led me to having two DL folders. One (large) folder for playing and picture taking and a small one for creating that only has the essential mods and whatever it is that I'm making at the time. ~VP

I discovered (once again) that my game has a peculiar sense of humor:

Since LFT student Breanna Grove is a lazy bum in all fields except for romance, I decided to have her apply for Greek charter for her campus house. She was already too lazy to cook, so I figured that she'd probably prefer pizza to instant meals. When she went on her first campus visit, she came back with a Greek letter instead of a pizza.

That letter? Hoh.

It's not really surprise as much as it is awkward. Like walking into your house and on two people you barely know doing it on your couch awkward. Oh ACR, what amusement you provide me.

I used to have a Sinclair Spectrum with a tape deck to load games, so I got used to waiting an hour or more for a game from a very young age. But when it started taking 2 hours to load the Sims, I knew I had to sit down and trim that down. Got it to half an hour now, which I'm pretty happy with, although I do want to sort my hair and see if I can trim it down a bit more.

I discovered that even when it's obvious how to do something, I'm better off running my eye along the advice on the subject in Help here. Turns out (and the install/uninstall guide clearly states this) that Deluxe won't let you do a partial uninstall. So when my Pets and University installs borked up, and I tried to uninstall just Pets, and wound up uninstalling the whole thing, not everything got uninstalled, which is why my second installation wouldn't let me add BV at all and still had University borked up.

So now I've uninstalled everything again, and am installing each EP and then playing them for a little while to make sure it really, truly, absolutely installed.

Which means I just finished playing my first day at a business - the Landgraab Electronics store - and tried out a bunch of features I never had occasion to before. Also, ran Malcolm as a creepy boss who flirts with his employees...

I probably have been suspecting it for awhile but... ever notice that scene in the intro for Sims 2, where it had a bunch of guys dressed in lab coats or aprons, and they're all making these weird expressions, then doing things like pounding their chests? They're in aspiration failure and being visited by the unseen shrink! In fact, the intro video has several instances of sims in aspiration desperation or failure!

And do you ever notice how you start to understand more of what's going on in some videos like that OFB teaser with the woman and her servo friend? The machinema can be quite amazing!

I have. I tend to switch between the two modes though because the slight increase in speed doesn't quite make up for the lack of edge scrolling. I simply cannot build in the game without edge scrolling!

Take for instance, Brenda Larson.

I also learned that my game's gay couples have a thing for adopting black babies. Seriously, three of the five gay couples I ever played extensively all adopted black children, and the other two couples adopted orphans (like Ariel Capp).

It's funny, really.

Or possible not. I lost a Sim and had a lot completely frozen in my first hood on a similar situation. Family going on vacation but the wife just had to pop in and clean the tub first so she never got in the van. She didn't show up at the vacation local however and I couldn't send my Sims home either.

They were stuck on vacation and she was stuck in the home lot, which was unplayable, along with the family dog. I tried everything I could think of. I killed off the Sims on vacation and then had them resurrected so I recovered them but she couldn't be killed. She would show up around the hood and you could invite her over but you couldn't move her in or kill her.

Yeah that hood ended up a BFBSFS. Not that your incident will end in corruption but I don't want you to think that is a feature of the game. It's not, they really need to get on the stupid shuttle or it causes problems.

Sigh ... you may be right. I restarted the game & went to Twikkii Island & the couple was not at the hotel, so I went to their house in Pleasantview. She was there, and he arrived home a few minutes later in the vacation taxi. Neither had any memory of a honeymoon.

The husband is Tybalt Capp, who has 10 body points. While he was in the bathroom, she did the easy jump rope & gained about 6 body points in just a few minutes & now has 10 body points herself ... she did this on her own.

So I tried to send them on vacation the next day, but only _she_ got in the shuttle. She got a room at the Blossom Wood Hotel & called him, but the only option was "just talk." I sent her to the beach & she was just about to try surfing for the first time when she suddenly couldn't move from behind a lawn chair (yeah, I know  ) and ... the game crashed again. If things don't normalize, I have a complete backup from the last time I played before today.

The chicken dance is probably from the Therapist 'curing' the sims of low aspiration (there's the chicken dance, pounding chest, and roaring that I've seen). It wouldn't surprise me if the animation was re-used for the Secret Society handshake though.

I've had half a family go to school and another family member go to work and they all managed to turn up at the vacation lot, but the home lot got corrupted and I've had to move them all out, plus I've been having random crashes that I assumed were down to my computer doing too much at once. I wonder if it's related.
ETA: Then again, I suspect the hood's been corrupted for a long time, ever since I moved in a townie adult, aged him down to toddler, and he still had a job. XD

I discovered that toddlers can steal their siblings' bottles. I knew it existed from the opening animation, but never had it happen until I was playing in one of my challenge houses and a set of twins glitched into a set of triplets. I've learned that you must keep children b and c busy while they wait for there bottles or they will head straight for child a and steal his/her bottle. I'm surprised it took me this many years to finally see the animation, but then I usually don't have more than two toddlers in the house at a time, and I try to feed them in the highchair. But when in a challenge you must go by its rules, and there are no highchairs and there must be lots of babymaking right now.

I discovered that the fishing hole at the campground in Three Lakes is phenomenal! Sims who had never fished before were pulling gigantic fish out right and left, and not one boot all day! However, they couldn't grill them. I've always been able to cook fish straight from inventory, but apparently Pleasantview Trent and Tina need at least one cooking point before they can make use of their catches.

Also, "walk to lot" and "take a subset of people with you" came in with BV.

I've successfully installed and tested through Bon Voyage, using Pleasantview as a test neighborhood. Unfortunately, I can't return to Drama Acres until we get new DVD drives so I can install Apartment Life. They're on their way. Did you know internal DVD drives are "out" and external ones are "in?" But we don't have room for another peripheral on this desk, so we had to mail order them. I hate "upgrades."

You also tend to catch a greater percentage of golden trout there. As for grilling them you should have the option once it rolls around to dinner time. I use that lot a great deal for vacations and my Sims can only grill fish at night. Why a hotdog is acceptable for breakfast and not grilled fish is a mystery to me.

I don't know if your Sims are only visiting the lot and not registered there if they ever get an option to grill fish.

And Trisha only got the hot dogs option on the grill at about midnight, which is in the "dinner" slot. Since this was a test of installation, I had taken the Travellers straight out on vacation without building them any skill points, so I'm inclined to think that I need right time + at least one cooking point.

At least they'll have lots of nice fish to serve the welcome wagon, instead of the lunch meat or cold cereal most of them have to settle for!

Successful test of the Freetime installation last night; but it'll be a couple of days before the new DVD drives arrive and I learn whether or not that's the only problem with installing AL (which will finally let me restore my saved game) and Mansion and Garden (which will be a new install). I'll install my two stuff packs today and, probably, play a round or two of Pleasantview, or maybe go all out to play Bluewater Village and learn first hand how the businesses work. I have a Sim State student whose LTW is to own five top-level businesses, and though I can probably get her permaplat without that I may as well know how to do it.

I went back to the Travellers at their campground briefly last night, and Trisha had a rainbow trout and a gigantic catfish, while Tina (who can't use the grill at all) and Trent had bass. The clock was at about 2:30, so with Trent active I clicked on a grill, and he got "Bass with squash" as an option. So it appears that if you have no cooking points, it has to be bass at lunch or supper, or all you get is the hot dog option.

Its just weird, does that happen to a lot of Sims? Eva has high stats in a lot of areas. And so does Dracul. But when you come too Daciana, her stats are as follows:

4---Neat
2--Shy
6---Active
5---Playful
7---Nice

Draculs:

4---Neat
10---Outgoing
8---Active
7---Playful
6---Nice

I mean you look at those two stats alone. And I keep asking myself...Why is Daciana just so normal. were the other two could be massively bouncing off the walls. I will tell you, it took Eva only two minutes human time (I guess you can say) to get her Fitness all the way up. I just don't get how, Eva and Dracul have extreme stats, and Daciana has stats exactly like her dad. So, yeah, I am so totally confused

Colin was also super driven and skilled like a madman, even though he tended to be a slow skiller He came from a Victorian hood (where he competed with his twin, a knowledge sim with a slightly more sane point spread) and became an apocalypse founder's spouse. He lifted athletic without having medical lifted, though his wife had lifted culinary, and when his wife gave birth to triplets rolled meet someone new repeatedly rather than fear of having baby.

No getting caught cheating?

Peni Griffin
7th Apr 2012, 7:41 PM
You wouldn't get caught cheating because the car is off-lot - sunlight won't burn vampires, married couples won't woohoo in the car if it means leaving someone underage "alone" on the lot. So nobody knows what you're doing in there even when the windows fog up and all four wheels leave the ground. That's why there's no cheering crowd outside, as with the photo booth. Also doesn't count for woohoo in public.

This wouldn't work for me because I don't woohoo folks randomly - women can try for baby even when they're not in the mood, if they want one, but men who don't have an active want to woohoo - well - that means they aren't presently able to do so. And the circumstance as described wouldn't create the want sequence. But if all you want is to knock out five of the lifetime count and you don't fuss about things like I do, it should work fine.

@JDacapo: Niceeeeeeeeeeeeee :P I just wanted to let you know :D

I have a playful Sim, Megan Pretzel, who loves looking through the telescope. Her stats are: Neat 5, Outgoing 5, Active 3, Playful 8, Nice 4. She's a Taurus with Fortune/Popularity aspiration. Both of which she's pretty much achieved. Every time she gets in the shower she plays with it & sings a song I've never heard anyone else sing.

What ? I'm so confused as to what you mean? My non-romance sims never roll a want for woohoo unless they are on a date. I've never had a male sim not be able to woohoo and 'try for baby' is successful 90% of the time.

I've never had a male sim not be able to woohoo, either, as far as the mechanics are concerned; but as far as my playstyle is concerned, if he doesn't have a big purple heart in his wants panel, the tackle's not cooperating. And only a cad will proceed if he's got a woohoo want and his date doesn't. He keeps working on making her want him till the date timer runs out, and if he doesn't - well, he'll just have to improve his technique.

Non-romance sims do roll woohoo wants when not on a date occasionally, but it is rare. (Retired baby machine Kitty Hawkins is the only one I can think of offhand - there's a reason that woman was a baby machine till her eggs gave out, and her husband still regularly rolls have-baby fears - he's not convinced that elderhood can stop her.) Because of this and the lack of ACR, almost all of the sex in my neighborhood - and there is quite a bit of it - happens in the context of a "date," even if it never leaves the confines of the bedroom. People who're all wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am aren't making any headway with my sims, no sir! You want a baby, you convince your spouse to make one the hard way!

ETA: Once I went away I thought of plenty of my non-romance sims who got wants to woohoo outside the context of a date - Fortune, Knowledge, Family. Popularity sims tend to be relatively cold. Mostly this happens to sims in committed relationships and mostly they roll "woohoo in bed" wants. Often first thing in the morning. Bit of extra realism there. Unfortunately you can't just get them to roll over and get things started. A "wake up nicely" interaction that put the partner In the Mood would be great.

@JDacapo... not sure with EA jealousy , I use this...http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=185019 EA jealousy always struck me as , well, insane. " I had lunch and some afternoon delight with you four years ago( four sim days) and I called you and you said you were folding laundry and you'd call me back and i waited by the phone for three hours and you never called. Then I called again and you said you were on your way to meet your cousin and you'd call me back. And you never did. Now I see you dancing with and kissing another woman, I think I'll go physically assault you" Crazy much!

Oh hell I know... one time I was playing the Bright house and had Jane Stacks invite Castor Nova over, and start flirting with him, and suddenly Allegra went bazzerko, slapping him. Thought he was a romance sim or something and was thinking of having him get abducted... problem was, he'd like it. But yeah... reacting like that when having a one-sided crush is insane. If real people did that all the time, oh my gawd... this whole world would turn into one big Jerry Springer fest.

Stick any pictures you want your sims to paint in My Docs/EA Games/The Sims 2/Paintings and they will be able to be painted using the Custom Paint option. There is a mod here on MTS that allows Custom Paint for all levels of Creativity - I have some 'bad' paintings that I use for low levels and nicer ones I use for higher levels.

Actually I've had Sims get "caught cheating" while WooHooing in the car on a community lot...another Sim in love with one of the couple in the car wanders by, sees the car rocking, and it hits the fan.

Were the woohooing sims on a date, at the time? I'm not 100% positive, but I think sims automatically know when a pair is on a date, even if they're not engaging in any romantic behaviors in a given moment.

Really weird, if true, that sims don't recognize woohoo in a car that's right in front of them, yet can divine that two sims are on a date, even if one of the pair is talking to someone else while the other is in the bathroom.

The painting skill is just a count of the number of paintings you've sold and it has a very minor effect on painting price--something like an additional $5 per painting. The big boost in price comes at Creativity 10. The formula changes and that's when you make the big bucks.

As for what I discovered today: dead sims count towards simultaneous loves. I have a sim who has fed a series of wives to the cowplant to keep himself young and he's about to get his 20 simultaneous lovers LTW even though 19 of them are buried in his backyard.

Wow... creepy. I prefer to just use ACR or the like, and have my sims drink elixir of life.

Also, I found out that even new pre-made neighbourhoods can have corruption. Was playing Leod McGreggor's house and had him stargaze. Due to a mod that made abduction more likely... he got abducted. Sometime after his son became a toddler, I hovered my pointer over his aspiration meter... oh god. His son has a lifetime want. If I didn't know that that was a bad sign, I would've thought it was cute - his son wants to be Chief of Staff. Though I did think something was off when I saw the kid roll wants to buy a car. Somethin' is off with my Riverblossom Hills, that's for danged sure. Didn't even play with it much, but it might be due to new custom content or something. Ah well.

And I've noticed that the creature fear-triggers are very reminiscent of an allergy - first time someone changes, he or she doesn't roll wants or fears related to being cured. It's sort of like an RH- mother having an RH+ child - the first time doesn't pose any danger, but the body is still sensitized. So I may have to just dispense with the meet-witch formalities from now on, because I want to eventually have a story of a clash between good and evil witches, and perhaps a plantsim apocalypse(like a zombie apocalypse, but the sims don't stink, and they always get good memories even if they go loony-toons at first upon transforming).

Had them do it, and also had her do it with one of them, and then the other came in and got pissed off. I was thinking... 'didn't I lock that door'? But anyways it went downhill from there. Badly. A toddler wanting to woohoo would be a sign of a broken neighborhood. The base programming doesn't allow erotic wants till teendom, or woohoo wants till YA/Adult.

I discovered that even your biggest apologist will get fed up with you if you cheat on your fiance with a guy your sister also likes in front of your toddler by somebody completely different. Derek Zarubin has always stood by his half-sister Beverly Ku and made excuses for her no matter how badly she behaved, but last night he caught her doing that and threw a fit. It was right there in his action queue :"Read to toddler, have a fit."

The kid's mad at her, too, but since he's never had contact with either his biological father or her fiance I'm not sure on who's behalf he's furious. Maybe his aunt, with whom he's best friends? Or maybe he just can't stand to see her paying attention to anybody but him.

Father Time
Santa Klaus
Hula Zombie
Pollination Technian
Grim Reaper
Therapist
Mrs Crumplebottom
Stinky Skunk
Witchdoctor
Bigfoot Bigfoot

Rod Humble
Genie

Those are all special characters that, if messed with in any way, corrupt not just a neighborhood, but your entire game to the point that reinstallation is the only fix.

A buggy little thing that I have seen before on different places. I had a couple living in the "Abode de I'amour" lot and as I wanted them to adopt a child I placed a lot "next door" and moved them in. I let them take some items from the old lot and one of them was the car in the driveway. I placed it in the catalog so I just had to take it out on the new lot. Here is the funny part: I can see the old lot from the new and the car is "back" on the old driveway (!). But when moving the sims whit "move family" all of the sims things were sold for similons, so what do the car do there? Funny, and I have seen it before. I think the game have some problems right there. It's also quite normal that the furniture stays in the old house when the sim is on an other lot and move in there.

I also discovered that some sims looks very happy when talking to their BFE's. They clap their hands and have this big "I can sell every toothpaste there is" smile. Looks nice I think. Not everyone does it but some. OK, I did'nt exactly discovered today but still.

Andice Point and her half-brother Frank Munny were playing Marco Polo in the park. Frank got out to go schmooze some kids from his class (Popularity teen, doncha know; he has no objection to doing things with Andice but she is just a little kid). When Andice got out, Mrs. Crumplebottom was right there in her face to make her change into her everyday clothes and cry. (Very shy, very nice - a sensitive little girl.) Andice went over to tag after Frank some more, and Mrs. Crumplebottom followed her to lecture him for still being in his swim trunks. He got up in her face and shook his finger at her in return before changing back to everyday.

Andice really admires her big brother now! I've never seen anybody stand up to that hag like that before.

I am like, please leave them alone they are trying to do their own thing.

Playing Chess gets very weird and scary, because they will just stand there staring at you. Just stare, they never leave. And then they get right behind you, so you can't move. Then after you do get away from the chess table, they become a mob just to greet you. Then once greeted they never shut up! I discovered that there's a time lag between moving a toddler in and his appearing in the side bar, while the toddler crawls onto the lot.

Jim Spitzig moved into his new place and threw a wedding party, inviting his former housemates, his bride Beverly's family, and a couple of old Greek connections. I decided to move in Beverly's brother Derek as well as her son Tri; but only Derek and Beverly appeared on the sidebar and I was all "Nooooooo! Did I forget to choose Tri? She wouldn't leave Tri behind!" So I closed without saving and did it again, for the same result. This time I waited to gather more information, and suddenly Tri appeared. So I switched to him and clicked and there he was, crawling along the sidewalk, having apparently come all the way from the House of Fallen Trees by himself.

I had Jim, who'd never met him before (he doesn't know his biological daddy, either), go out and play with him and they made friends instantly. Jim, who was originally a Secret Society dormie, got the Secret Handshake option with him under "Play," but he couldn't actually do it, just stood there until I canceled the action and changed it to "toss in air."

@Peni its the same thing if a sim invites the parents of a toddler on an outing, the toddler automatically comes too, but when it is time to leave the toddler won't get in the car or taxi and ends up walking home its very odd and the first time I saw it I was like " are you serious you're letting your toddler walk all the way home? What kind of parents are you?"

I learned a while back that Secret Society sims have the 'Secret Handshake' interaction avaliable for ALL sims. Even infant babies. Of course it does nothing until the target is a child. If you try it with a child they'll stare at the sim in a confused matter.

I found it greatly amusing when a sim I used to have named Craig tried to accomplish the Secret Handshake with his daughter when she was a child. She kind of just went "what the heck are you doing daddy". With punctuation error and lack of captialization.

There's a hack that keeps them from burning... forget the name of the site but I could probably find it through google. Or just put a few sprinklers above it - they'll soak the room, but the fire will be put out and your sim(or anyone else playing with the set) will live.

I remember when River burned to death. And all my Sims were doing was making out in the Kitchen. It was a sad day in that household. They mourned for two minutes then went back to making out. I never thought my Sims could be so heartless.

EDIT: I also just discovered, Nina Caliente never leaves if there is the following in your house:

A) A Train Set

B) A Chess Board

C) A TV

D) A Stereo

E) A Ballet Bar

F) Or All Of The Above

She never leaves, and stays there. And when inviting the maid of Don's attraction, they fight all the time. Now, talk about a wonderful Jerry Springer moment, and annoying moment. Want to invite Nina over, and have her leave in a couple hours? Do not, and I repeat do not have A, B, C, D, E, or F. I mean heck, I like having people over, and letting them do their own thing, then eventually they leave. Not Nina, I think Nina may be obsessed with my Sims -.-"

Summoning a dead grandparent to respawn the tombstone (thanks, Maxis!) fulfills the fear of death of a relative. Poor little Alex kinda needed those aspiration points, and Cassandra had already just had a shrink visit before her date with Don. (Not sure why, as she hadn't been played, but it might have had something to do with Komei picking on her.) Doing them all at once was a really bad plan. On the bright side, Bella's folks have tombstones now, as do all of Mortimer's relatives. As far as I can tell, Cassandra rolled some other fear after the first, as she dipped into gold from it, but Alex rerolled the death fear and got a double whammy and his aspiration bottomed out.

A bit of a story before I say what I discovered today.

The thing about being a modder is my game is always at risk of getting corrupted. Every now and then my game acts up and it's usually because of something I'm working on. Recently I've been back working on Ghost Hack, and one of the most recent changes I made was to increase the incidence of ghosts on community lots. Suddenly have ghosts appearing when they shouldn't on residential lots. Um, that's bad.

So I pored over the code again and again, and dammit everything is fine! Ghosts shouldn't be coming out during the day and shouldn't be coming out less than 24 hours after death. WTF?

OK, what can call the ghost generation routines? Tombstones, check. Lighting strikes, OK I knew that. Hmm, what's this one? Oh.

Hey, kids, did you know if you have a bug collection on the wall with all 10 spiders, it forces ghosts out during they day? Yeah, neither did I. But it sure wasted hours of my time.

Not a total waste of time, since you learned something new to share. :D

Also, Cyjon, have you observed ghosts out during overcast days? On every occasion I've seen a daytime ghost, it has been overcast or rainy. And I've never had a sim with a full bug collection, so I know it's not that.

Ghosts can come out during the day if the tombstone is struck by lightning, but being overcast doesn't directly affect anything. As far as I know those three methods (normal haunting, lightning, bug collection) are the only ways to generate ghosts. The lightning and spider ghosts don't hang around very long during the day since once an hour the tombstone realizes it's daytime and pulls them back, although the spider collection just regenerates them again.

All playables have that option (if flirts with the Target Sim are possible), regardless of who they are/were. It's somewhat an "entry-level" flirt. For me, it typically appears before "Charm."

ETA: Here's something fun (and perhaps evil) to do I've discovered somewhat recently....

So, I wanted to listen to the game music and my imported music while I worked. I opened up a dorm, froze the semester clock, turned on a stereo in my playable Sim's dorm room, and locked him in there while he meditated. I had installed ACR and MATY's FightClub hack so I turned off jealousy for the lot and made all the dormies Romance Sims with the appropriate sexual orientations.

I turned off my computer monitor so I could work (no temptation) and listened to the music with all other game sounds muted. By the time I was done with my work, the dormies had more or less all become in love with each other. Then I turned jealousy back on. >=D Having the sound effects muted is key if you're going to do this...unless you reeeally like that "booooing" sound effect when someone gets caught cheating. Exit without saving to keep the status quo. ;)

All men get the wolf whistle. They do it to Romance sims of their preferred gender in the same way that women swoon at theirs. Wolf whistle is usually on the men's flirt menu right next to "check out sim," even when they can't do anything else.

Mr. Big and the Diva have "primp" as their persistent gesture. They'll do that before washing, eating, or peeing after getting struck by lightning, it's so persistent.

I just found out there's a photo booth at Oresha's Family Dining! I'd've sent Goz and Kitty there with their kids sometimes if I'd known that! Well, Goz is still alive, so it's not too late...

If a Knowledge Sim is on vacation in Twikki Island, learning the Sea Chantey will fill his/her want to see a ghost.

I sent Antonio Monty on vacation and when he rolled the want to see a ghost, I sent him to the lot with the pirate ship to see if seeing the ghost of the pirate captain would fill the want. It did, and then I had him learn the chantey. Its been awhile since I've played Sims 2, so I didn't know that before.

I hope you have a mod that stops them from performing it autonomously. That stupid sea chanty is like a plague. He will teach it to everyone he knows and pretty soon the minute you have two Sims on a lot together all they will do is sing that damn chanty.

The toddler bear pajamas. I hate them. They look hot. And it seems as if three-quarters of the toddlers who grow up in Drama Acres grow into them. Okay, no big deal, since I've gotten into the habit of having somebody go out and buy toddler clothes before the birthday I can just take the kid straight to the changing table. Except that about half the time the changing table WON'T CHANGE THEM OUT! Just tonight I had to plan Dior Skirt's PJ outfit three times before it took.

No way is a kid named Dior hanging around in anything as unstylish as a bear suit.

I like going out to buy clothes, Ms. Spears. It's the refusal of the bear pajamas to go away when I've already planned the outfit to not include them which was driving me wiggy.

On the upside, Dior has itty tiny sideburns. I am so keeping the hair he grew into! And I did eventually get him into a decent pair of pjs, though not the ones I initially wanted - I'd bought a summer and a fall suit, and the summer one just wouldn't change. I suppose it might have been cloned from the bear pjs and I didn't get the mesh; but AFAIK it's just one recolor of a set that's worked fine in other families.

Not sure if this has happened to others o.o

BUT, I recently discovered, if you have 2 Sims that are crushing on your Sim, they tend to kiss and flirt to your Sim in front of each other (I have the "No Jealousy" hack). For an example:

Tegan shared her first kiss with Nina, and Tegan has a crush on Kaylynn. Kaylynn saw Nina and Tegan flirting with each other. She came out of the house, began to flirt with Tegan, then Nina would do the same. Then Nina would kiss Tegan, and then Kaylynn would kiss Tegan.

I was like...

"DANG! GO Tegan! They all over you! WOOT WOOT!'

Yeah, did that happen to anyone else? o.O

OH! And any Sim with 10 on Outgoing usually get in the Hot Tub all naked o.O It was freaking odd.

It's so precious how Romance sims will play with their partners' children, even if they aren't related - when I moved the Pigeonblood household to a new lot due to a lot glitch that prevented Antimony and her live-in boyfriend from going to work, first thing Antimony did was dance with one of her boyfriend's alien-spawn sons. Really cute! She may have had the fear of having a baby, but she sure cared about all the kids - even the ones who weren't relatives.

Not to have an espresso machine in a college dorm. I was wondering why there was an unusual amount of pee puddles everywhere until I saw a dormie drink 7 cups of espresso in a row. If you're that tired, why don't you go to bed? ...Or just pass out on the floor.

Also not to throw a graduation party when TWO cow mascots are hanging around. My Sim kept socializing with her guests and the party kept staying at Snoozer. I guess that was the only thing keeping it from turning into a disaster. Probably should have asked them both to leave beforehand, but it was kind of fun to watch them team up in pestering everyone.

I dunno, there's often quite a few people on the second floor at FM by the time my sims want to woohoo. A lot of them have high Music and Dance interest and flock to those karaoke machines.

It can be a pain getting out of the crowd at Bernard's Botanical Gardens because the space is so constricted. I put one in the restroom/makeout hall at Midnight Flows, which is generally the most private in my hood because everybody's playing the instruments I put in the main room and hardly ever using the restrooms.

Sherlock in Twikkii kept in his want panel the want to learn the hula, but every time I pointed him to a dancing local and commanded him to Join the Hula, the command vanished as fast as I gave it. I gave it about twenty times, and he refused. I sulked for a bit then, and refused to give him any instructions for looking after himself. He became dirty and hungry, but he just used the time for wooing his guest. (Dora Ottomas, would you believe?) I gave up on the holiday, gave up instructing him to dig for maps so he could win the voodoo doll, and sent him home. I did not kill him.

Heh. Wait until everyone is hungry and has gone downstairs to eat. As an incentive to keep them there, turn on the stereo, start a smustle, and they'll glom there.

Two floors can mean a lot of space.

If you have whichever EP brought in the reputation system (FT or AL?), your sim may be getting higher wages than usual due to knowing someone who put in a good word with her boss.

The FT perks for Fortune sims also brings in higher wages -- the AL reputation seems to raise wages by about 5%, but the FT perks by about 20% (percentages are uncertain on my end, but I do recall that FT gives a bigger boost).

It's not him being obstinate, its a glitch. I've run into this before, where the glitchy Sim would make everyone doing the hula "jump" out of action. The only way I've found to fix it is if he has a stereo at home, do shift+control+C on your keyboard to bring up the cheat console put in boolprop testingcheatsenabled true and then with Sherlock selected shift click on the radio at home and select Debug Set Skill High. The next time you send him to a vacation lot, he will be able to learn any dances.

My sim invited her boyfriend 'round for dinner, but headed to bed shortly afterwards - and...

...the non-controllable boyfriend started trimming the hedges, weeding the garden and generally tidying the house. I never realised they could or would do that. My sim can't be worth all the hassle, surely? ;)

One time, I had an elder invite his alien son and his family over, and his eldest grandson spent the entire time raking up leaves. Mind you he was like 9 at the time. So that was a bummer for me.

Then his other grandchild that lived with him invited the same relative over. Again, entire time raking leaves. I even served food and tried to get the poor kid to eat, but he didn't even notice the meal. Sometimes I invited the kid over just so he can garden.

Seriously, that kid had no life. Might of been because of his bug eyes. He scared the crap out of me when he was born.

I discovered just the other day that you need to have to have the ACR adjuster actually spawned on the lot for teens and elders to use all the autonomous actions. I'd been wondering for ages why my teens had no sex drive, despite being teenagers in a game with Inteen!

Same here, I can hardly keep my sims off each other! I do know that you actually need the adjuster on the lot in order to utilize the "booty call" function though :3

Today I learned just how much fun the EVIL toybench toys are! I should feel like a bad mommy for littering my house with evil clown-in-the-boxes for my toddlers to stumble upon, but it's just too amusing!

I discovered that a sim can roll a want to have their child 'meet the aliens' :p ! My legacy dad wants his teenage son to get abducted by aliens !

Once I had a Knowledge Sim couple with a son whose aspiration was Fortune. It was great for their score whenever one of them met aliens...but their son just about hit aspiration failure constantly, as he kept rolling the fear! Aspirational tug-of-war.

Its actually in the Read Me File.

b. For teens and elders only, autonomy is also dependent on an adjuster object being present on the lot. If there is no adjuster on the lot, teens and elders will not be able to perform any autonomous casual interactions.
i. This is due to a Maxis limitation in the way they coded the ‘plug-in’ social interactions that this mod uses.

Which version? I have ACR2, latest release, and I know I just saw a first kiss attempted between Francis Worthington (YA) and Hermia Capp (teen) at the Goth Wedding Party that crashed four times, without a controller on the lot, but Francis might have initiated that--I made all the guests selectable for a moment to get them to stop goofing off and get over to the arch, and it was in their queues.

Hah, so I was checking out families from the neighborhood view and saw they had a lot of money, like 200,000 dollars but the last time I played I remember they had about 30,000 funds. Oh well I used the familyfunds cheat to do their taxes and subtracted 100,000. I learned that the total in the neighborhood view is their worth PLUS their home. So I was surprised when I clicke din and they were 10K in debt. I immediately gave them a motherlode tax return.

No, I'll let it go as part of the game's ability to surprise me. I have to accept some contingencies. So Sherlock can't hula? That fits: he has three points for Playful and three for Nice. I've gone off him.

I've got 2 too, and my adults are complete horndogs. No problems there. I did have a first kiss between a teen and a adult ages ago, but that could've been the adult starting it. And I did have a few teen/teen kisses on vacation, but NOTHING else. This is a sort of ISBI, so I give the teens no commands. Eventually I thought "I really should look at the ReadMe again and see why this isn't working" and lo, the adjuster is needed for total autonomous teen and elder stuff.

So I spawned the adjuster and had Juliet Capp ask Romeo on a date at her house. After three minutes, in which I commanded NOTHING, they had hopped into bed and successfully tried for a baby.

I think First Kiss can be initiated autonomously without ACR though, can't it? ACR doesn't prevent normal Maxis autonomous romantic interactions. It only prevents ACR autonomy for teens and elders unless there's an adjuster on-lot.

Nope, if you don't shift click on the stereo and set his skill to high, he won't be able to learn the hula or the slap dance in Three Lakes.

It would make more sense if it was related to personality, but I've noticed that the glitch doesn't make sense that way. I first learned about it with the pre made Sims Oberon and Titania Summerdream. I had sent Oberon and Titania to Twikki Island for their honeymoon and both wanted to learn the hula. Both have high playful points and high nice points. Titania was able to learn the hula, but whenever I clicked on one of the Sims and had Oberon join, everyone doing the hula "jumped" out of action. I went online and found out about the glitch. After I fixed it, Oberon was able to learn from Titania at home.

When Puck Summerdream became an adult and married Hermia Capp, I sent them on a honeymoon to Three Lakes. Both wanted to learn the Slap Dance, Hermia was able to learn it, but when Puck tried, it dropped out of his queue like you said in your original post. When I sent them home I used the fix and then he was able to learn it from Hermia.

Last night, I was able to get Albany Capp to learn the hula without problems, and he has 1 playful point and 1 nice point. If it was related to personality, Oberon with his 7 or 8 nice points would have been able to learn it, but Albany with his 1 nice point wouldn't be able to.

I haven't been able to figure out what causes it, its just trial and error in my game.

I don't think it can be. It's been so long since I played without ACR, though, I'm not sure. My sims always use ACR to do it, though, even those head-over-heels in love who do all sorts of flirts without it.

I learned that a sim four (or is it five) days from elder cannot get pregnant, even though there's plenty of time to bring the pregnancy to term. I always thought the cutoff was three days, I've been playing since the game came out, and I only found this out now b/c I never manage to stay interested in any family long enough to get the adults to elders. The things challenges force us to do...

I learnt that a child need not be living with its parent in order to be encouraged into virtue. Tina Traveller had four points for Neatness and four points for Niceness. I wanted her to have six of each before her university career.

Trent Traveller was not at all attracted to his wife, so Trisha divorced him, took Tina with her, and married Julien Cooke. Now Julien has seven points for Neatness, and so can encourage Tina to be neat once their friendship is established; but Julien and Trisha have only five points apiece for Niceness, and so cannot encourage Tina to be nice. Well, back in the old home, Trent invited his daughter to visit, and quite quickly encouraged her into two more Niceness points. I made her selectable so I could check her progress. That is all very satisfactory.

I bought a new pc and having reinstalled TS2 & all related stuff, restored backups, readded CC etc, I completely forget to install Ikea. I feel like such an idiot! Musicoligist, anybody with a family tag who is older can Encourage traits; so Tina herself will be able to Encourage any younger siblings either parent produces while she's at Uni. She'll also be able to grant permission to go out - is that a sweet set-up or what?

Among spouses of different ages, the elder can Encourage the younger till the younger one ages up. I never had Goz do it to Kitty Hawkins, though, 'cause he thinks she's perfect.

That SSU has some really creepy professors due to a glitch.

He keeps hitting on my fellow dormies. High level flirts, all being rejected. Then he stops being best friends with them. Again and again. Peni said this happens usually to coaches and professors. Old people are weird.

I kind of feel sorry for him. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaPfXSorgRk)
