I made a desert neighbourhood, some sort of isolated, self-sufficient community. I'm combining high tech with rural stuff, like they are a group of people that decided to live there, instead of living in an automated city.
Or maybe they are settlers in another planet. Nah, I prefer the previous idea. Anyways:

I decide to build a farm, found some amazing content and cobbled it together.

I was thinking about uploading it but it has too much custom content, so it'd be complicated to rake through it all and find out what can be kept and what can't. And two of my simmies have moved in so it'd be sad to move them out. :P

gonebynow, I seriously want to live in that little yellow house, and beatdoc, your house is so sweet and cozy-looking.
I love looking at everyone's houses and thought I'd share one that I've been working on. It's in my retro 'hood, Holiday Hills, which takes its inspiration from the time period between 1948ish and 1963ish. This particular house is based on "modern" ranch homes from the 1950s.

Izzy - That duplex is sweet! I love the white windows with that brick. The white roof trim is a nice touch. And um, I wanna live in the resident center. ;-) (I have a thing for cute little houses.)
psivampyr - Awesome beach house! I would never think to use that color myself, being a bit cowardly when it comes to bold shades, but it looks really cool and fits the beach theme. Nice surfboard out back. Hep looks like he's waiting for his owner to come out and play. :-)

Theres nothing wrong with box houses- most of my fondest memories are in box houses. My aunt in real life dated a man that lived in a bright yellow box house- we used to call it the cracker house because it looked like a box of crackers.
Break from the box, add another box accross the lot and add say a hall to connect the 2 boxes and then work off of that. Its a good way to break out of the box if you want to feel adventurous. Least that could happen was you made a giant connect the box lot. :)

babolat - Awesome ranch!! You rock with the landscaping, too. I am so going to download that! Love the carport!
inkbottleblue - I haven't uploaded any houses in a long while, but I could give it a shot if you're interested. That one might be tricky since it's on very steep beach lot (which you can't see in the pics). But I'll be building more like it on flat ground -- maybe I'll upload those!

inkbottleblue - I haven't uploaded any houses in a long while, but I could give it a shot if you're interested. That one might be tricky since it's on very steep beach lot (which you can't see in the pics). But I'll be building more like it on flat ground -- maybe I'll upload those!
Yeah, I checked your website out so I saw the pictures of the back. If you do upload them, that'd be awesome--but if it's too difficult, don't worry about it. And your stories are awesome by the way!

Very cool. Will they function like apartments? :)
fway
8th Oct 2008, 10:15 AM
Yes, if you have Apartment Life they will. I used Numenor's AnygameStarter, by the way, so the only EP you would need is Apartment Life. :)
There's only very little CC, I forgot to add. I used MayLin's traditional doors, pfish's invisible fence for the apartment deck trick, and the "Matte and Glass" recolor in black, I don't remember who made it though... :/
ETA: I am going to upload this as a residential lot because of the problems people have with the cheat already being implimented. (Hence the residential mailbox showing instead of the apartment one)

Thank you beatdoc16, I've been fighting with my computer, when backing up my neighborhood, I had to recover my computer, luckily, all of my mesh files, etc. were saved, but not the neighborhood and the lots. I have to redownload SimPE and hope that my neighborhood gets backed up, because if I re-install the game (since the recovery disk un-installed my games), you can say goodbye to the Wartons for a while. Alas, I can move on, though.

beatdoc, I am loving your stuff lately. The Dane and The Gossip are my favorites. The Gossip has the perfect name, too.
longdaysend... Ooh, very pretty garden. I love how you mixed the different kinds of flower bushes.
cmserene, I love the little sitting/sunroom inside the greenhouse. Very creative.

You all have such wonderful houses. Do you base them on real ones?
I also wondered how you chose the colours for them.

Boolpropped - That cabin looks absolutly perfect - simple and woodsy. The interior shots look fantastic too, I've always loved the way you build & decorate (and I'll admit to attempting to copy it many a time :D)
Tyler - That's a great beach house! I love how the beach slopes down to the water, and is that a halmock I spy?
Treejen - That house is so cute, it reminds me of something out of a storybook.
longdaysend - I hope you figured out that landscaping because even without it, that house looks great! I'm liking the second one too especially how you've mixed the blue windows with the brown sliding.
