I dunno how I'll fix this if she wants kids tho.. oh well its better than the ugly crap she had before lmao. i wanna remake all the houses and stuff from OFB and BV cause theyre soooo ugly and halfass.

oh yeah i have more, heres some sort of factory i was making as an apartment building:

and a massively wooded lot for an outdoorsman (inspired by that person who posted about having a sim and his dog live off the land.. sadly his bill every 3 days is like 1000 simoleons cause of all the flora..)

Oh, wow! Beautiful houses and gardens, everyone :)

This is my modest effort. The Rice family's backyard got partially done up.

It still needs a fence and more foliage but they ran out of money.

Current WIP:

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u159/kattenijin/snapshot_00000017_b6681a26.jpg

It's a re-do of an original Maxis home in Plesantville, I'm not sure of the exact address off the top of my head. It's the one that had the huge lake in front. I used the lot adjuster to move ten tiles from the front yard to the back yard. It's going to be the new Goth residence for Mortimer II, he's the grandson of Alexander Goth.

Yet one more Maxis Makeover.

Not that good, but, the basic structure of the house was nice, it just needed.... re-arranging.

I can't believe that is all EAxis content. I love it very much and would download it if this computer had all of the EPs on it. Unless of course it's base game compatible.

I need to recover my simming computer ASAP.

I really need to do a house of fail entry. I always try to enter something into the "More Awful" contests if they interest me.

4th Jan 2009, 07:56 AM
No, it's definately NOT base game compatible! lol! It basically requires every EP, and the K&B and M&G SPs. If you check at MATY, you can see more pics, which show it's only furnished with "built-ins" (ie: kitchen/bath/lights) because I didnt like how it came out furnished.

CelticDragon - What an awesome castles!! They look fantastic!
Night Racer - Great renovation! I especially like the fence, I think it really suits the house. Looking foward to seeing more!
Babbelsim - I adore this house, it's so simple (in a good way!) and it looks like it would have a really great floorplan for gameplay.
kattenijin - I just discovered all the 'house of fail' threads of MATY and I think you have done a truly wonderful job of this house, in particular adding the pond and awesome garden!

Incredible cute and impressive houses. I'm awful at house building.

Here are a couple of pics of the asylum I made when I played the asylum challenge (they are horrible pictures, I just wanted to remember how it was before the make over):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_b5753c9a_76739ae4.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_b5753c9a_76739ae8.jpg

And now this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_b5753c9a_5673c097.jpg

I wanted to make it ominous and menacing, and I think that a bare building like this can be more discomforting than a gothic mansion.

Lovely houses, everyone!

FablesOfEuphoria: The pictures look pretty good. On the ones where you have the lavender, you might want to maybe bump up the contrast or perhaps play with the saturation, so that the greenery and the lavender really pop. If you were using Photoshop or Paintshop I could point you to a download of a really great custom filter that would make quite a bit of difference to the pictures, but I don't think the filter works with Gimp.

clw8: I think it would really depend on whether the house is a starter or not. People don't expect much landscaping for a starter but for houses 20K+ they'd probably expect a little bit more greenery or maybe a pool or a deck or a BBQ area or something else happening in the yard. It's a nice house, I quite like it, but I think it might need a bit more landscaping done.

CelticDragon: Love the keep! Very forbidding on the outside but the warm tones inside make it actually quite inviting to live in.

Sparkle - Heya! Cool to see you posting here, your legacy house certantly looks like it would fit everyone in!!

It's actually only a three bed two bath house!
The rooms are generously sized, and there's more living area.

It lags a lot less then their old house, it was boxy and the rooms were huge and hard to decorate.

I did some more work on my scary house

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h259/yoshisegg/snapshot_b5e40a18_567e0ee9.jpg

This is the first time I've made my own roofs without auto roof and it was kinda hard, on the left I have a bit that can be stood on (well not really since ther's no way up yet) with a throne on it, I might change this but I'll keep it like that for now, andI like how the right roof turned out, like all spikey (you cant see it so well in the pic)

just gotta finish the fence and decorate a bit.

Criquette: Those lots are amazing, and the last building would be known as a Workers Club here in the UK. My grand-dad used to frequent one a lot in his village in Scotland, where they were small pubs/clubs for miners.

I made over the Goth house. Not so goth anymore. I don't know how that mansionesque style Apartment life has is called, i just think I love it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_6dae6a73_b67d6000.jpg

I picked up my books about minimal design again, as I needed ideas to make beach houses. I've had bon voyage for a month and barely used these lots!

Anyways, the real one is a house at Staufen, Switzerland, made by architects Morger & Degelo

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_00000202_567528f5.jpg

And a last one. I built it months ago, and I'm not sure, but I think I haven't posted it here. It's a small cubicle:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_f613bb54_5619e8c1.jpg

The inside is radiant, in my humble opinion, always.

Criquette: I adore the first lot! It looks like something straight from downtown New Orleans.
beatdoc: Charlie's cabin is so cute and cozy! I hope he doesn't plan on expanding his family- not much room .

I was thinking on uploading this house. It's based on another real minimal house, and I didn't use any custom content. But I don't think it's that great. The outside landscaping needs so much help...

By the way, any suggestions on how to fix that gap between the columns?

wgroome: Excellent job on 'Dancer's Delight'. Such a sweet little place, and I love the artistic touches to the exterior. Your Janine Bell needs to open up that dance studio to the public - a perfect place for a small business!

Night Racer: You KNOW you're hot! I really like the cool simplicity of your lot. Sophisticated, yet not too complicated. And I've never seen a pool designed like that, with the half-walls and all. Does that diving board really work? I need to run off and give try it myself.

Engram: Fantastic beach house and a perfect roof line. Looks a little like a 'Queenslander' without the paranoia of tidal floods. The 'cool' colour of the siding really contrasts well with the dramatic blue of the roof. And who can resist a wrap-around verandah?? Your entire lot screams 'sunshine'.

I've been lazily building stuff lately. Saddly, I doubt I'll ever use these lots. I'm too excited about Sims 3 to invest much more time playing Sims 2. But my 12 year old daughter plays, and I'm secretly putting a neighbourhood together for her. (Frustrating though, because all her families consist of a mum or dad who are tragically killed off on the first day, twin teenage girls , a live-in emo hottie, and a cat named 'Jinx'. And as long as I live I swear I will keep her from learning about Teen Insimenator...)

wgroome, that's really nice. I love when hobbies define the homes.
Night Racer, I love that house, specially the front vegetal arrangment.
44 Coffees, that beach house is exactly what I've been trying and failing to do! I'll try again now.

As for me, I'm continuing my Veronaville makeover, into some sort of art deco neighbourhood. I feel kinda sad for it, because I think maxis really made wonderful houses in that neighbourhood. How is it called? Isabelline style? Renaissance?

I don't have mansion and garden stuff yet, so I won't remake the whole neighbourhood for now (because of the art deco stuff in that pack). Also, I've been considering making over one side as art deco and the other side, with the Montague family, Art Nouveau.

Anyway, a house:

Chowgilly, the art gallery is awesome!

Babolat85, I've been through several of these house threads and I have to say if there were a contest, you would definitely take first prize! All your houses are so realistic and the landscaping is great! I wish I had that kind of talent for landscaping!

All of you all do wonderful jobs on your houses. This is one of my favorite picture threads and it is so inspiring!

No. I didn't put bathrooms on the lots as the idea is you just go their for an hour or so. They're meant to be little parts of a town, not lots in their own right (if you get what I mean...)

I've made 4 others as well; public toilets, a small park, a swimming pool and a park. All on 10x10 lots!

Maxis Home Makeover:

This is the house that I moved the Oldies in. I forgot to write down the address, but you know the one. The nice colonial that looks great on the outside, but none of the bedrooms are big enough for a double bed (grrr).

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/dallasindc/maxisbefore1.jpg

So I updated the siding on the house and completely redesigned the inside. I'll post the interiors in the fav rooms thread.

Ok so since I decided to play double heirs this generation(AND I was EXTREMELY bored!) I built another house for one of them to move into once the graduate from uni(the main house just doesn't have room for 2 heirs, their families AND the founder and her hubby!)

Only the one pic for now, because the back yard is completely bare :/

Wonderful Lots everyone :D!

My first house is built on a 1x1 lot. I just love these because they are so easy to build on:

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/lmfjaxxon/Blue-1x1-1.jpg
This Lot has an open floorplan

Apartments I made today that I am really in love with:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/lmfjaxxon/Outside-Skidrow-2-2.jpg

The first 2 apartments on the left handed side are 1 bedroom 1 bath and the one on the far right has 2 bedrooms 1 bath.

Actual Floorplans for both lots can be found here (http://forums.sims-community.com/showpost.php?p=1318541&postcount=17)

Thanks. . . I believe that - that chainlink fence is one of my favorites, as far as fencing goes anyways. . . I just usually don't build homes that it would look good with, but, this time, I think this one looked nice with it.

I know you're in the process of building it; but I think it needs more plants and/or external decoratinos like statues or a pool.

Maybe you could add another colour into the colour scheme of the build?

Usagimune
18th Feb 2009, 02:45 PM
I just added two pools behind the breezeway (Had planned on that) and a couple pillars to hold up the porch over the faux circular driveway. Not sure what plants to add besides the cacti and prickly pears. Trying to do research to what kind of plants are native to deserts.

[Edit] Just found some desert plants to download.

Wow! There are some really amazing houses here - what an inspiration! I've spent hours now looking at old threads, very interesting, and I will for sure post some pics later on, even though my building abilities can't match most of you guys/girls. But I enjoyed so much your work, so there was no time for play today!

Shrewsbury - the Castle is blowing me away, as did the Theatre I found in an older thread. I am truly impressed! That town you are making must be really something!

Chekur - the Beach house looks so neat and tasteful with a lot of cool details. Just the right place for some beach-loving sims!

Wgroome - Your park looks great! Are you sure it's your first one? The 45 dgr benches looks wonderful by the pond. (I must learn to use that cheat immidiatly...)

I've had to remodel it a bit though as maxis only allows you to build upto 4 levels without hacks & i don't really want to get anymore hacks as my d/l folder is bursting lol...

I.nfectious: You don't need a hack, just an in-game cheat "SetHighestAllowedLevel #" where the # is 1 more than floors you want. You could use the exact number of floors, but I find it's helpfull to have the extra. Leave a space between Level and #. You can even add the cheat to your user startup.cheat file, and always be able to build to the level you set.
