Making a graphic pattern.

Are there any tutorials out on make a pattern with a character in the center. I'm using GIMP, and I'm trying to figure out how to make a pattern with this image.

The information you want is in the modding section, not the pattern section. You can't do a once-only design with patterns; it will repeat on the back of a t-shirt, for instance.
