This is my original post:

So Im working on a picture to go with my theme awaiting approval. Anyway I followed all the instructions in the tutorial and it sort of worked. I have a blank canvas in the right place with the right cost and description. But its blank, no picture. I know I had to do something wrong in Photoshop when I placed the picture on the frame, right? Im lost because everything else turned out fine. If someone wants screenshots of the blank canvas Ill post them. I know this is not exactly the best place to post but Im so close to having my first custom made painting and Im excited. Can anyone give me some advice?

Thanks
Tonya

Anyway I fixed that problem. I had to save it in DXT5_NM for the actual picture to show up. I also re-checked every one of my steps and finally got it working. My next question wasnt covered in the tutorial. There is only a base color to my picture. The image itself can not be recolored. Is there a way around this in photoshop or in the game?

Thanks again for all the help!!
Tonya

Are you following my tutorial in the wiki? If so, there's a vastly simpler way now: use the Object Cloner instead :p http://www.simlogical.com/Sims3ToolsForum/index.php?topic=259.0 .

As for your other question: you want to make the image area of the picture recolorable with Create A Style, is that right? I don't believe we currently have any way to do that... there are currently no tools for specifying the recolorable areas of object meshes. I expect such tools will be forthcoming... soonish ;)

In the meantime, the best you can do is make several clones of your picture offering different color combinations (they'd all show up as different catalog entries). At least the Cloner makes that part relatively painless ;)

Yes I am following your tutorial...haha. I didnt even realize it was you I was talking to. It was very difficult but it worked. I will look up the object cloner but I think I have the hang of your way and learning another way would just take more time. Yea thats what I was going for, I made a picture with differnet colored balloons and I wanted to be able to change them in game. I really LOVE bright colors if you cant tell already. I didnt think that was possible since you cant change regular (not custom-made) pictures either.
