Either AGS or MG version of SimPe preventing game from running? Solved

After playing the game for ages I've suddenly run into problems. Suddenly I cannot run my main game, while all AGS versions - even those with all my extensions run fine. I uninstalled AGS and did a clean install of the game. It worked fine at first but now I cannot run it again even if I've not used AGS yet. I then remembered that I'd updated SimPE with the MG patch shortly before my trouble started and that I've used the updated SimPE again yesterday before the trouble started again today.

If I right click on my shortcut (directly to the exe file) and chooses "run as" I get an error message that "licens data cannot be accessed".

So my question is, have any of you run into problems like this with either AGS or SimPE?

And, any suggestions to what I should do?

EDIT: after going through securom tech support to no avail, it finally occured to me to delete the groupscahe file *sigh* that, of corse, did the job ...
